grime has always been influenced by hip hop and many other things
loads of producers back in the days even made grime riddims on old mpc's (skitz beatz, ruff sqwad etc)
trap production had been around before hand, people were using lex luger drums and even way before that dizzee would make three 6 mafia and timboland type beats which turned into dizzee's own style of grime, he didnt call it grime, it was the white media, to him he was just make "dirtee beats"
the "second" coming of grime had both a mix of old style and new style grime production (skepta thats not me etc)
yes uk drill used chi drill aesthetics but chi drill is just an off shoot of trap music and trap music is a off shoot of? well what? rap music or should someone say crunk music?

Drake’s most UK-ass album was More Life and slim was damn near ODing it with the fake London accent, slang, and Brit rapper features. It’s a reason why most Americans weren’t fukking with that album outside of Passionfruit and Portland in the first damn place breh. Other than those two songs, a lot of Americans have damn near forgotten about that album.
Drizzy most likely knew the shyt was alienating his primary audience market and gave us Scorpion. Not his best album and of course being the biter that he is, he had hella New Orleans shyt in it but the album was a major hit for the American market and brought him back in good graces with us and even had better shyt on it than More Life such as Sandra’s Rose, Nice for What, Finesse, Final Fantasy, Elevate, God’s Plan, Mob Ties, etc.
Drizzy always gotta make sure that he don’t turn off the target market that got him big in the first place

What he's getting at is the UK rap scene is now in a position where a lot of the top guys are touching M's/Major bank. American rappers were looked up to because of how much money they were making.

House which is big in UK is directly from Chicago-House the clue is in the name, Garage is also Black American as is Rap Rnb and Soul, no lies told there these are all Black American art forms.
