That's why the OG's in rap are mad. Method almost had a damn aneurysm about that shyt.

Method Man wasn't tripping.

Method Man's debut went platinum early.
He in truth sold more than any of these kids.

If he feels something is off about these numbers, trust me - something is off about these numbers.

To say streaming doesn't pay is stupid, it's just to check the labels and streaming companies financial statements.
There's also reports from artists themselves showing how much streaming companies pay the owner of the music.
Back in the days artists used to say they got little to nothing from their cd's too, it's all about your contract.

Okay. I think "streaming doesn't pay" is factual.

You can get $16 off a $20 CD.

One stream is like $0.003.

Are we not discussing the artists? No shyt the labels make all the money from streaming that's the point:mjlol:

This goes beyond just rappers. Artist of all genres have complained about the payouts from streaming, which ain't much better than they payouts they used to get from physical sales
That has nothing to do with streaming, that's on the artists that sign the contracts.
You can also have a 360 deal structured in a way where you don't get much from your shows either.

You can get maximum 16 bucks from one customers from a CD sale, you can get endless bucks from streaming.
People who bought Ilmatic in 94 are still giving Nas a lot of money from streaming.

I also believe that it's $0.007 for the lowest and $0.013 for the highest.
So if a dude plays your album all month, for like 100 hours that's 20 bucks for the owner, using the average between the low and the high.
While regardless of how much a dude plays your album you only get 16 bucks.

nikkas say "streams aren't real sales!!!!" but they bring in the same amount of money lol

Also, he was doing 2-3 shows a week making $40-80k a show
They literally don't and the math is public you need 1500 streams for every 1 physical album sold. So your tracks have to play a lot more to generate the same income. Other platforms could have different ways they count too.

Okay. I see that. But isn't Spotify a flat rate a month? So the same customer listening to one song alot what, money keeps going in the artist's pockets? I'm going to research this further.

Method Man was questioning Yachty taking private jets. Which is literally $10,000+ a flight.

We will see where Yachty is when he's 50 off music. Because Method Man was way wealthier, sold more, toured more and achieved more than Yachty at the same age.

Yes song owner get paid per stream.

Spotify pays out 70% of their revenue to the labels based on the splits of the labels artists. Then the labels pay the song writers/artists etc. That exponential curve for streaming is a big reason for why these people are buying these catalogues.

He was way more wealthier at the same age? I doubt it.
