That's crazy...I been here all my life except for college and I've definitely experienced it.

But definitely LESS than Philly because of the nature of NYC, it's a melting pot.

Philly though? Those white kids that come from West PA (Allentown, Redding, etc) they're only real experiences with Black people is via rap music and televison so the amount of racist dumb shyt you will hear from their mouth is IMMENSE. Combine that with the fact that schools like Temple are smack dab in the hood? shyt is like a cutlure shock to em and then the REAL feelings come out. Trust.

But being racist does NOT necessarily mean you hate other races...You just think your race is better...

For example, I am a homophobe, but I don't hate gay people...I believe they should get married, and have all the civil rights that all citizens should have....

It's hard to take these results seriously. For one thing, there was a similar survey taken less than a year ago that showed that a majority of Americans harbor prejudice against blacks. Secondly, this is hardly a scientific study. It relies on self-report. People aren't going to come out and say they're racist, and by extension, most white people aren't going to say America's racist in general. To get at the objective truth of the matter you have to penetrate the veneer of political correctness and get inside people's heads. One way to do this is with an Implicit Association Test (IAT), like they did in the article I linked. (See video below for explanation of the IAT). That study showed that 56% of Americans show "anti-Black sentiments". I'll take that over some goofy survey of what people think people think.
