Poll: Majority Of Whites See America As Colorblind, Nearly 80% Of African-Americans Do Not

A new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll digging into some of the fallout from the verdict in the trial of George Zimmerman found that Americans are deeply split over questions relating to racial equality. The survey found that a majority white Americans believe the United States is a colorblind society while less than 20 percent of African-Americans say the same.

I was watching a short interview with Tim Wise the other day and this came up. Back in 1965 you couldn't polled this same question and come up with similar numbers. A lot of white folks didn't think racism was a problem and that Blacks had the same opportunities everyone else enjoyed.

I know there's the whole "white folks are evil" explanation, but some of these people really don't see this shyt. I don't go a week without being reminded of the kind of society we live in. Amazing as those numbers are, I'm not really surprised.
