I remember back in 08’, the so called Black elite was made that Obama didn’t come from them. :mjlol: They probably would have preferred Kamala since she went to Howard and is an AKA.

It isn’t just the “elite” Black people thing though. There aren’t that many of them. But yeah, things are changing. The older folks are dying out and the younger ones aren’t all that enthusiastic about politics/voting democrat.

it's a new day.

before the political commentary came from the old Black political elite through publications like Jet and Ebony and Essence magazines and on shows like Tavis Smilley and BET Tonight with Ed Gordon, and radio platforms like Tom Joyner in the morning back when Roland Martin was in his prime.

all those old platforms are gone and now with the internet Black voters can go and get their information elsewhere.

those old Black organizations will still exist in the political space, but they won't have nearly the influence they once had and the numbers of Black people they directly influence to vote democrat will be limited to those who have ties to those organizations.

and that's a good thing to me. we need new voices that don't just show up every 2 to 4 years to try and influence through fearmongering. men like Brother Malcolm were always focused on mobilizing the masses of Black people, and that's where the focus needs to be. most comfortable Black people just want to stay comfortable, and there's nothing wrong with that. but the majority of Black people need something else.

The Black elite from the D9 to the Obamas to the Boule/Links to Black celebs put all their chips on Harris. And they still couldn't even stop hemorrhaging of the Black vote or low turnout.

So have they proved they are increasingly impotent for moving and leading the Black electorate? I think the organizations will remain as valuable social and cultural orgs but is their buy-in or advice even going to be sought going forward in political aspects?

Who will replace them? Or should they not be replaced?
This is a great question. I believe so but the current generations, millennials and gen z, are more intelligent and have far more access to information to our minds up.

Yep.

This election will have bigger implications for black people than we think.

The black elite took a part of his political power from its ability to CONTROL the black vote.

But the demographic shift is making black people less and less relevant as an electoral block.

Black people need to come up with a new strategy quick.
Big Gipp said something profound and true. A Georgia democrat is different from a California democrat with different values and core issues varying. Being from the south, that treh business turned some folks off.
