Clay Higgins, known as 'Cajun John Wayne,' resigns from St. Landry Sheriff's Office

Capt. Clay Higgins, the well-known spokesman for the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office, has resigned.
Higgins made the announcement Monday morning on the steps of the St. Landry Parish Courthouse. Higgins broadcast the announcement on his Facebook page. www.facebook.com/captclayhiggins
Higgins' straightforward and forceful style earned him the nickname "Cajun John Wayne."
Higgins made no bones about letting criminals know that law enforcement was coming for them and that the law was going to win.
His announcement came after controversy surrounding a video he made on behalf of state police regarding seven accused members of the Gremlins Gang.
