Police Fire 137 Rounds at 2 Unarmed Suspects

13 people fired 137 rounds? Even if there was some justification for the police shooting (there seems to be none), how the fukk is this even acceptable or safe?

Reminds of the situation in NY with the police shooting wildly and hitting people.

These cops were on some Call of Duty, Gears of War, bullshyt. What is the point of shooting that much? Were they trying to disable the car or trying to blow it up? What type of mess is this!!

Not to mention it happened right outside of a school in the middle of a neighborhood. I haven't seen a legitimate reason for them firing so many rounds but a few articles are saying that the driver tried to ram a cop car and they can open fire if that happens.

They played some of the radio conversations that took place between the cops during the chase and you can hear one guy saying "they're angry, I think he has a gun" despite another officer coming on right after and saying "he doesn't have a gun, he is holding a pop can."

Scust. And they still haven't found a gun or bullets. I think this really did start as a result of this dude's car backfiring.

There, a dozen officers from Bratenahl PD, the Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office converged with the 13 Cleveland officers. 137 rounds were fired.

That's more that 13 people.
137/13 = 10.5
137/(12+13) = 5.48

the first set of numbers is pretty damn high IMHO, the 5.48 though is pretty low and actually shows constraint IMHO. 5 shots is roughly 5 seconds or so and we don't know if the dude was in the process of trying to ram the cops. Cars kill people too.

Ultimately this is just a shyt situation where trying to attribute blame is pointless.

The only thing I got from this story is that the driver of the vehicle should have pulled over.

Then the officers could have just checked the vehicle, confirm that they had no gun and let them go.

I can't fault the officers for not checking out something that sounds like a gunshot, even if it turned out to be a car backfire.

Also, I read somewhere that they ran into a police vehicle during the chase. If that's true, then they were definitely asking to get shot at.

This... ...At the end of the chase, two police cars were in front of the suspects’ car and were hit head on... ... is considered vehicular assault and justifies use of deadly force. The police response was to stop the aggressive action. The car was their weapon.
137 rounds by 13 officers is about 10 rounds an officer? If anyone here has shot a gun, you can zip off 10 rounds pretty quick. So if you decide to use your car as a weapon against the police, you will probably get a hailstorm of bullets coming your way.
