a lot of exposure to surgery plus medicine, without having to deal with a lot of bullshyt in a surgical residency. Get trained in some cutting edge medical technology, like docs who specialize in fertilization. The money is def :ahh: but that lifestyle and malpractice costs are :scusthov:

someone knows his shyt :ehh:

they will ignore your post and go on with they bullshyt doe.

So if being a Gynecologist isn't a family business, and you've never been exposed to it...what would make a college-aged male pursue this field? I know the pay is good...but it's just puzzling to me...

When a young, hetero male starts classes in OB/GYN at a University, do female instructors/professors give him the :usure: :stopitslime: faces on the low...

Thoughts?

Would like for women to weigh in, too. Would you allow a younger, late 20s to early 30s OB/GYN to examine you?

I am almost certain that gyn is a required core rotation in medical school, so no one would look at him crazy for taking a class on it (they all have to).

I had a male gyno, but I mostly saw his female midwife. There is always a nurse in the room with him. It really isn't a big deal. Most doctors aren't trying to be sued.

My associate, a woman, went into gyn for these exact reasons.

You don't just start Ob/Gyn classes at a University.

Im pretty sure its a required rotation during the 3rd (maybe 4th) year of Medical School. Thats probably when they decide that they would choose this specialty.

Funny GYN rotation sorry: So my bf was doing a gyn rotation last year. Along with the doc, he saw a woman who came in because she thought she had an infection. When the exam is over and she's about to walk about the office, she gives the nurse her number for my bf and says "but wait until my results come back" :dead:

Good info in this thread. But what does it say about women who prefer men?

Because you're a doctor with the following benefits:

  • gets to bring life into the world
  • will very rarely have a patient die on you
  • much more flexible schedule (not likely to have to do emergency work)
  • get to perform surgery
  • etc.
