Anyone would've done that at that time. Oden was the most dominant big in the country. He would've come in and impacted the game immediately whereas, KD was so small. GMs were afraid that his size would get him punished in the league by bigger 3s and 4s. Oden was the obvious choice at #1.

Really good answers in this thread :ehh:.
Jeff Green is the obvious answer but he'll never be more than what he is :francis:
I thought the Harrison twins would be decent in the league but :francis:

He was actually a much better player when he played for the Thunder. he regressed as a player since being traded from Oklahoma.

Philly
hakim warrick and randy foye :mjcry:

In Hakim's defense, he put up numbers whenever he got minutes. Not stellar numbers but numbers good enough to be a starter and part-time star...especially in today's league. His problem was that he didn't excel in anything so teams didn'tr know how to use him, as the game transitioned.

Yeah there were questions about KD's durability because of his thin frame, and like you said Oden showed a lot in college. Most people thought he was going to be game changing big man that was a franchise cornerstone for years. Hindsight is 20/20, but at the time most people would have went with Oden.
