Going old school with it but Elgin Baylor. Made the Finals 8 times with the Lakers and lost every single time, he then retired 9 games into the 1971-72 season because of injuries. The Lakers proceeded to go on the longest winning streak in NBA history and won the title.

They ended up giving him a ring for that year out of sympathy :mjcry:

not a ring, but takeo spikes never played in a playoff game, got fed up with the niners and dipped to a then favored chargers team only for the chargers to go 9-7 miss the offs and for the niners to make it to the NFC title game

he didnt have choice, bowman was on the come up
