Hip hop lost. The source had the culture on lock and played themselves when they were the bible or rap by loosing their credibility.

Now the culture has not gatekeeper to look to for the consensus of classic albums n nikkaz gotta deal with rolling stone, pitchfork and cacplex reviews on Black art form

someone gonna come in with a needle drop clip next...

the source wasn't the blackest berry in the garden either tho.:mjpls:

and their mic ratings were always suspect.

Drogas wave is an 8 at minimum.

But why would we expect descendants of slave masters to give the album any kind of acclaim? fukk em.

On the low, the Coli should crowd fund a publication/blog that reviews hip hop music. I value thr coli consensus way more than any of these magazines.

:usure:

Mic ratings weren't ever in question until they gave made men high scores. That was a whole scandal. The writers of Unsigned Hype and The ratings were often on point with the culture unlike pitchfork

what culture? their mic ratings were always suspect in the streets. that's the heart of the culture!!!

the source was built off of ivy league guys. and half of their writers weren't black either. and im being generous by just saying half.

magazines NEVER fully represented the culture, unless it was a spinoff local or regional-based mag. or maybe something bigger like say murder dog or Ozone. but never anything that covered the entire national scene.

Imagine actually caring about what some people at a magazine think about an album :mjlol:

Honestly, if you like it, you like it. If you don't, you don't.

Who gives a fukk what some dorks writing for an online publication think?

people care because theyre the ones with the platform.

youngns & casuals who don't know any better will automatically look to a publication to seek out what is validated.

is spooky but its real.
