No u specifically targeted African Americans as the cause of this in Jamaica and that is completely false. Jamaicans are doing this for the same reason any group of people modifys their appearance to fit the current standard of beauty... and that's WHITE PEOPLE. Don't try to blame us blacks here in America for what white people have done to the minds of Jamaican people to make them wanna bleach their skin. fukk outta here

:comeon:

Enjoy your day, breh.

You took my comment outta context, breh.

I didn't make that statement to imply that all black people in the US worship light skinned black folk.

I'm speaking historically as far as politics and culture are concerned.

:stopitslime:

It's a fact that light skinned black folks have experienced a certain privilege amongst other black folks in American history.

Because of this, light skinned black folks have been presented to the world, more often than not, as the standard of excellence for black Americans.

My theory is that when most black folks from other nations bleach their skin, it's prodominately an effort to resemble a light skinned black person, not a European.

With anything, there is always exceptions, but i think that's the reason for most.

You do realize these other places have "light skinned" people and their own standards of beauty w/o any influences from America?:martin:
