Picking up an old game ... should I go Red Dead Redemption or Fallout: New Vegas?

I've never played Fallout 3, does that mean I'm not a real gamer anymore?
I own Rage and Skyrim tho and from what I hear the game seems similar to those games. (Same developer)
Red Dead was probably the most unique/interesting game I've played this gen though, In fact, if it was a movie it would probably be regarded as the greatest western film ever
I give it two thumbs up.
