So I haven't been shooting much lately.

Need some motivation to go shooting. What do you guys do to go out and take pictures?
What do you normally take pictures of?

And if you don't mind sharing, what equipment do you work with?

Best thing to do is not think. Just to go out and take pictures.

I'm using Micro 4 3rds. Downsizing helped me start taking more pictures.

So I been waiting to join for a bit but never got around to it, saw the photography thread though and had to sign up for an account

So Raul you sold off your Tokina 12-24? I just bought that lens like a month ago and its dope as fukk. Super sharp. I use a Canon 60D and the Tokina is usually what's on my camera now, I shoot mostly landscapes so it's nice having an ultra wide, but I got a few other lenses too.

I like some of the other flickr streams I seen people post in this thread though the street photographer style is dope, I'm just surrounded by woods and lakes n shyt so that what I like to shoot but there are some good photographers on here. I'm a member of thephotoforum too where I've learned a lot but the majority of members there are grumpy old fakkits so it can be annoying going on there. Anyway here's a link to my flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/104201638@N06/

I live this shyt

The camera is like a hall pass or badge, It lets me do and see cool things. Its a double edged sword though, now that im a photographer I'm always looking for the newest or coolest thing to do to take pictures of it. Or like have anxiety on how to get better. Its like am an addict searching for the next hit, its basically an obsession.

Most dudes have several teams that they follow and other hobies.......For me though everything im interested in like bytches, art, partying, fashion, ect is rolled up into photography in some way. My life pretty much revolves around it. That gives me a lot of opportunities to shoot. Plus my apartment is pretty much a studio.

Anyways I wrote an essay about taking pics on the street, it might have some useful info.

Thanks
I can really relate to the awkward-ness of shooting people and not knowing what their reaction will be.
Sometimes I wish I had a longer telephoto lens for precisely this reason. But I guess we just have to get over it.
I don't think i'd have too much of a problem if someone asked me to delete a photo of them.
Even though, I think legally, I don't have to.

I loved the Tokina but...I had it when I shot Pentax...not Nikon. And for whatever reason, I just never got much use out of it. NYC doesn't really lend itself to many landscape shots unless you're overseeing the city from the Empire State Building or Top of the Rock. I could be wrong, though.

Aperture makes a big difference in the price.
Also, you sure she wasn't using old Nikon lenses from the 70s? Not that those lenses are bad. Some of the best glass was made in those years. But because they are manual focus, they tend not to cost much these days on the used market

Unless you're shooting with a Zeiss or Voigtlander :noah:

I mean warehouse prices are like 50 and retail value theyre about 350-400 a piece.
Nikon, Canon all of those. I used to work with lenses at her workplace lol. Those lowepro camera bags? Cost $20-$50 before they hit the retail floor.

I'm not a fan of Lowepro. I kinda like them if you have a pocket point-and-shoot. I worked at Ritz Camera for a few years so I know how inflated the prices can be.

I've never heard of $50 lenses at warehouse, though.
I'm gonna need some evidence. Because you and I might be able to do some business...if you can get me an 85mm 1.8 Nikon :shaq:

The company buys them at $50 bucks, the stores sell them at a higher price? lol
