Need some help homies.

I'm about to switch from Sprint to Big Red. Sprint's speed is atrocious and it's not getting any better in my area. I don't have 4G and I'm not in the new LTE rollout area, so I'm dipping. I know about giving up unlimited and I'm cool with that since my two lines come in under 2 GB a month. I'll actually be paying less with Verizon with much better service and a 6 GB cap that I won't hit.

Anyway, on to my dilemma. I'm getting 2 lines when I get there. An Iphone 4S for my girl and an Android phone for me. If I switch this weekend, the only two phones I'll be eying are the Galaxy Nexus and the GSIII. I really don't want either of them but they are the best ones available (for different reasons). My questions are:

When does Verizon usually roll out their flagship phones?

What phone has the best resale value? I'm thinking about getting the best iPhone (which model?) and just selling it when the next Verizon flagship phone or next Nexus drops.

Are there any issues that I should know of on Big Red?

iPhones have the best resale value, mainly because even without phone service they are a slightly thicker iPod Touch.

Verizon is a rock solid carrier. They will never wow you with speeds or features, but they won't make you want to smash your phone sometimes like AT&T & T-Mobile do.

Yeah, I figured that. I'm trying to figure out which one to get. I could get a 64GB 4S and keep it in great condition for a few weeks/months and flip it when the new one comes out, but I don't want to spend the money upfront if it's not gonna be a guaranteed sell. I'm sure I could flip a cheaper one (16 or 32GB), but I want the most money for the cheapest phone if that makes sense.

I came from Sprint, I'm wowed by dial-up :to:

If your goal is speed then Verizon is not for you. It would be like saying I want the best customer service available so I will call comcast.

I thought it was well documented that Verizon has the fastest net speeds?

It would be like me going to Comcast if they offer the best service in my area. Never heard anything negative about Verizon speed wise.

From personal experience, especially in my area, it is well documented :leostare:

Have never heard anyone say otherwise. At best the other carriers are on par speed wise. Verizon also picks up (voice) where others don't too.

Yeah, that's why I'm confused as to why he posted that.

Yea I have never heard Verizons speed questioned.

But if you come out paying less with Verizon you were definitely doing something wrong with Sprint.

Not at all. I get a better discount wit Verizon. I think I checked for 4GB of Verizon data when I did the calculations, but it's close...

2 phones for 129.99 (unlimited) + $20 "premium" phone charge + 10% discount on Sprint + fees= A current bill of around $150

2 phones for 80 + 20 for picture/video messaging + 80 for 6GB data puts me at 180 before my 25% discount....

Not much of a difference plus I get way better service. If I had great speed with sprint this would be an no brainer but my lack of speed makes the unlimited data a non factor

I think perception plays a big part, and that perception is based on where you live. In the tri-state area for example, you might assume Verizon had the best speeds because there is rarely a location where Verizon is not at least actively accessing the net...whereas with AT&T, they may have faster downloads in some spots, but you will find yourself in more locations where they don't get service at all.

Exactly. I live/work in a generally populated area so I'm not really dying for cell reception . My problem is reception on the road and data speed in general. I have been sticking around with hopes that it will get better but it's not happening...

Resale value its the iPhone, the best phone is the galaxy s iii right now.

I have noticed a quite noticeable speed bump with sprint 3g lately, I think its all those people jumping on the lte.
