Pretty much appeals to only black men

Who’s convincing the black girls to wear hijab and dress like Arabs or try to speak Arabic when it’s completely foreign to their culture like only a generation ago
Fathers and the nikka they in love with who either muslim or converted to Muslim in jail.

Yall talking about Philly Muslims are different like the other Muslims aren’t out here suicide bombing and flying planes into buildings.:dead:
Those brehs in Philly are tame compared to what their brothers overseas. :mjlol:

Breh, I’m trying trying to find out who the REAL Muslims are as well :mjlol: cause every time i see some Muslims online goin viral for something or saying something controversial

People in the comments saying “this is not Islam or they aren’t Muslim”

Even if people quote some Hadiths or ask about the Quran, Muslims will say “we don’t believe that or that’s not authentic Hadith” or “this is only bad terrorist distorted Islam” and not real Muslims.

Something halal some thing haram changes depending on who you talk to

Other than not eating pork I’m not sure what the standard is. I don’t know what to think a GOOD Muslim is :sadcam:

The NOI left a large imprint on Northern cities in general...DC up to Boston, stretching out to Detroit...not sure about Milwaukee but most likely.

The statement is a bit strong/lacking in nuance but due to time and place (70/80s New York) the gist of it is correct.

Oh you mean NOI? If so, I agree wholeheartedly. :ehh:

Right, the outward appearance of a “life change” or new identity is appealing to some especially those who have no culture, community/brotherhood or aren’t Arabic

And it’s good for social media posts these days I guess

If Islam came without all the “bells and whistles” Arab cosplay or performative nature of fasting/praying in public groups and was just centered on inward faith, not many would be joining

They wouldn’t be able to even SEE what it means to be a Muslim.

Same goes for HEBREW ISRAELITES :snoop:

That shyt you're talking about hits close to home. Someone close to me just converted. He was on IG this entire Ramadan posting pictures of his feet on the mat, and at the Mosque. Mind you we grew up Catholic.

I should've seen the signs three years ago. He would fast during Ramadan to see if he could handle it. A year later, I saw the Quran in his room. I'm thinking he was curious. Then right before this past Ramadan he says he's going take his Shahada.

To me leaving one Abrahamic religion to go to another doesn't make sense.

I moved to west Philly back in 96, right after JBM disintegrated. And by no means am I saying all or even most, but a lot Philly's Muslims operated like a prison gang. There were some I even knew who started following the faith because they knew they would have your back if shyt jumped off.
I always wondered how true prison converts were or if it was just gang shyt

I know a lot of black folk found Islam in jail, and it worked great for them. But I also know folks who legit did it, because there's strength in numbers.

Philly doesn't have traditional gangs... maybe they do now. They had gangs, but they were small... Deli Boys comes to mind In my neighborhood. Philly has blocks. You ride for your block or street in Philly. So in absence of that, Muslims cliqued up. Jamaicans cliqued up.

You know what’s crazy. I know a lot of people join Catholic Church for the image or as well, and community that comes packaged with it

Maybe he just choose one aesthetic over the other or Islam culture was more foreign and appealing or “cool” at the moment

But it’s not surprising he went from one to the other easily regardless of them both being “abrahamic”

He probably has no idea what Muslims actually believe or what Muhammad teaches/represents

By the way, there’s no proof Muhammad came from an “Abrahamic” lineage.

Proto Muslims were “clicked up” in 7-8 century Arabia and moved like a gang

When they came to YOUR town,

If you weren’t “Arab” and with them you were likely a slave, killed or raped and that’s fact.

Best case scenario you got a “hood” pass and could pay for protection after they took over the “block” :wow:
