I don’t know why people are in denial. They act like the crack era was this anomaly of social issues that would never repeat itself again. Smh. Now here we are with fent taking over, a global pandemic, homelessness everywhere, income disparities and supply chain issues. Crime going up is one of the results of these combined issues. The internet and the culture from “Crime Clout” doesn’t help either. We gotta save the youth.

:francis:
I don’t know why posters here are so hell bent on painting the 80’s and 90’s as the biggest, baddest era like that matters as if today’s shyt isn’t reprehensible enough.

did you randomly test memphis tennessee yet?

In 1995, the Memphis metro area endured 214 murders; in 2013, we had “only” 138.

This was something near the top of the results.

So this matches the overall premise. Now are you saying its going back up? Cause it going back up doesn't erase the fact of it going down.

I'm here and it is depressing.

Though if you are into criminology stats, something about this year's crime wave has been really strange. Namely, all other types of violent and property crime except gun violence are down and have been going down even through COVID.

So rapes, assault without a firearm, robbery, burglary, etc. are all down.

COVID pandemic and isolation likely pushed spike in 2020 homicides and assaults

So I don't think we can say these are all economic crimes or even just crimes of opportunity. I bet a lot of it is beef driven, maybe connected to social stresses of COVID making people snap over bullshyt. But I can't say for sure.

I want to visit soon like Maybe next month. I haven't been since 2010. I didn't get a chance to check out much of the city. It seems dope too. Really old and historical city like Boston where I'm from. I want to visit the hood too and not just see the tourist areas :pachaha:

:whoa: Just hit south street on a Friday night breh. Don’t go in the trenches

The real problem is education

Segregation still exists and the better schools are aligned with the neighborhood you live in

The funding goes to those schools in better neighborhoods and the majority of the city schools are black since white people all moved to the burbs in the 70s 80s

They thought charter schools were going to fix this and they were wrong

Crack , lack of good jobs and resources in the 80s speed up the decline

And now the city Is poisoned water in a fish bowl
These guppies don't stand a chance

Cuz contrary to the belief of Canadians, your trenches and our trenches, are NOT the same. Majority of y'all folks (not ALL), are not built the same. :yeshrug:

And no slight. Different levels of hopelessness, poverty, and culture, will breed, worst results, anywhere. Nggas move different.
