Anyone with experience in the field or currently in school studying? Drop knowledge and discuss.

First question, is there anything you can do before college to prepare for this? Besides being good at math :jawalrus:

My brother just graduated from Pharm school.

If you did well in your natural science classes, that should ease your transition.

You should pay more attention to the language and facts on medicine and prescription bottles

Yeah, I've heard the same thing. I was thinking of going to Pharm School a few years ago. Glad I didn't.

Here's a good thread about the job market for pharmacists.
Pharmacy Job Market/Outlook - Page 34 | Pharmacy | Student Doctor Network

Doesn't sound very good. Declining demand for pharmacists coupled with increasing supply (more people going back to Pharm school, new schools opening).

I browse infrequently, it would help if I knew someone personally who was in this line of work. Forums are the next best thing :mahnikka:

Science was always my strong subject, its coming up on a year since I graduated HS so my advanced math (specific formulas, calculus, etc.) is probably :flabbynsick: but it'll come back when I get in school.

The crazy thing is, I see pharmacy stores popping on damn near everywhere now. It's not uncommon for there to be 3 or 4 pharmacy stores on one block.

I know a few pharmacist and they earn really good money but they rarely get raises. It's like you stuck with a 100k salary for life every year which is good. There might be over saturation in some areas but places like alaska where they need pharmacist can bank about 250k and up a year. My friend got offered that position but its alaska. Also their jobs are really really mind numbing boring, its basically big bottle little bottle, everything is computerized. Some of them are arrogant and actually they they're doctors too.

I know 4 chicks that are pharmacists and other than the money they hate it. They work retail and they said its pretty shytty. Like your days off are not set in stone so you may have one weekend off every 3 weeks, and every day you have to deal with customers who have no clue who their insurance is with, people trying to scam their way into extra pills, people begging, etc....

They told me its better to work in a hospital or some other non-retail environment. You get paid like 20k less a year but its more like a normal job.
