On the other hand, when Kurt Warner was with the Giants, he helped Eli tremendously.
Even though Kurt knew he wasn't finished. He went on to lead the Cardinals to the Super Bowl.

:coffee:

:dwillhuh:

That was the whole reason they brought Warner in though... a hold the fort guy UNTIL Eli was ready to be the QB

Kurt has said he was conflicted about taking the benching even though he knew it was inevitable. He knew he was better and he still didn't let it ruin the locker room or take it out on Eli.

Kurt had intended to be with the Giants for 2 years but when the benching came midway through the 1st season, he opted out and went to Arizona.

Of course... you're comparing two totally different scenarios: when you bring in a guy drafted #1 OVR you know that guy's gonna start sooner or later(or you're stupid). Even if Kurt thought he was the better QB(and he probably was at the time), it wasn't his job and he had to have known that from jump

Fine.
But you don't think Peyton knew that at some point Brock was going to be the man?

Let's not pretend like outgoing veterans helping younger players is something new. This is one of the traditions of all sports.

It's not hard to point out a situation of a player near the end of his career helping to advance the career of his replacement. There are thousands of instances like this.

I watched Brock up close for his college years, dude is a beast. 6'8 with vision and he's got some sneaky athleticism as well.

Ain't about helping somebody "take your job" or "not his job to help the QB" but here's a dude who's about to make his first NFL start and you are a damn near 20 year vet and one of the best QB's ever.....you reach out to your fellow teammate and help him out or at least give em some sort of support. Give him some sort of advice. This is bullshyt on Peyton part.
Yep. Especially since Peyton prides himself on being such a "good guy". It's funny how the media made a big deal of Peyton waiting over an hour in the locker room to personally congratulate ray lewis after the Ravens beat them on the way to their title to show his great moral character yet he can't even give some wise old man advice to a youngster that he sees at work everyday, works his ass off to hold a clipboard for three years straight with no complaints.

Peyton should be thinking about the team doing well regardless of if he's starting or not, especially since the team has absolutely carried him for damn near a full season going back to his struggles late last season.

It might. Some dude on Mile High Report was looking at the game tape and said it looked like Hillman and Anderson were delaying their burst off the line because Manning wasn't able to turn for the handoff in time. Makes sense.

Anyway, the proof is in the pudding, we'll see Sunday
I was thinking it has more to do with defenses moving up because they don't have to worry about the deep ball with Peyton. So they can stack the box against the run and cover the short routes. I would assume that now with at least the threat of the deep pass, the D will soften up a bit.
