People saying "but Stafford and other white drop back qbs suck why not talk about them"are missing the point it's more about the system and whether it works then just the qbs being mentioned
The read option qbs coming out of college are so behind the curve in trying to read pro defenses and adjust to the pro passing game so people are wondering if it's worth even drafting these guys high anymore
The classic pro style qb has always worked and produced the best qbs of all time..of course they'll be busts who are classic drop back qbs but that's not the point these articles are about whether or not a certain style is conducive to pro football
But this is the coli so continue to rant in extremes
It is racially motivated though
Do they ever have these large scale indictments of any other system/style of QBing?
It's not just mobile QBs who don't take the time to read defenses, the majority of QBs are one read or mediocre decision makers, that's why there are annually 100+ people trying to be QBs and only like 15 very good ones. Steve Young talked about how mobile QBs don't take the time because of their physical gifts, what about QBs who have big arms who rely on forcing throws in college that NFL defenses intercept? What about QBs who rely on timing routes their whole college career then don't have the pocket safety and rhythm they once had and bomb in the NFL? The read option is only one system conducive to one skill-set...but they seem to be the main people getting large scale indictments, like Russell Wilson isn't a reigning SB champion who runs it.. There's no need to wonder why.
