Above the fray.

“People who are interested in advancing African diaspora history can’t rely on schools to do that,” said Tameka Bradley Hobbs, manager of Broward County’s African-American Research Library and Cultural Center. “I think it’s even more clear now that there needs to be a level of self-reliance and self-determination when it comes to passing on the history and heritage of our ancestors.”

Exactly

When I first introduced my children to school I started off my flexi learning so 3 days in school and 2 days homeschooling
After integrating them jnto school full time we found an Afrocentric Saturday school which really did cover a broad range from Math to Music

No way can u expect a system designed by your oppressors to uplift them you really gotta go the extra mile raising black children in this atmosphere

Black Self-Sufficiency
I agree with the sentiment. I am fine with schools teaching the information, but I know they will not be able to cover all of the information. That is where Black community centers, clubs, religious organizations, and families come in and fill in the massive gaps that will be there. Our children should know about our rich history and have an understanding of how that history affects the present.

SHOULDA BEEN DOING THIS, AND NOT JUST FLORIDA.
Agree
And I been against "They" Schools teaching Black History, much less being graded on it...
I think AA and Black History should be taught in schools, and that it helps provide a better context for understanding general American and World History.
But I've always felt that it's more of a benefit to non Black students, who would otherwise get an incomplete understanding of American History.

The pushback against teaching it (from Desantis, etc) is exactly why it needs to be taught.
