The US has over twice as many people as Mexico which means the US has twice as many consumers. California has almost as many people as the entire country of Canada. Even if these countries doubled the imports, both simply don't have enough consumers.

And China over 3 times as many people as the US, so it would be impossible for the US to meet the demands in that country. Meanwhile, China has the ability to churn out 3 times the productivity as the US without even trying. Even if the US doubled it's exports to China, there would still be a deficit.

The US is a consumer driven economy. And the fact that 70% of the wealth generated is UNEARNED INCOME, how is it supposed to become a global producer of anything? Who's going to do the work? And the top 5 current US exports are

2. Aircraft Engine and Parts Manufacturing
3. Petroleum Refining
4. Brand Name Pharmaceutical Manufacturing
5. Natural Gas Liquid Manufacturing

SO the US exports oil and drugs. The next 5 are chemicals, cars, car parts, semiconductors and computer parts. This country doesn't make shyt that people want or can't get cheaper for someone else or make themselves.
