I’m really not concerned with convincing you. I already see you have a cognitive bias and if you claim to be a scientist/physicist you are not the only one. But to be clear if I was a government official I personally would not want this information released. I would know other countries are working to develop this technology because whoever figures it out first wins. Bottom line is keep it in house as long as possible to figure out how to use it and weaponize it. People do come out and leak stuff but they get discredited.
