Pentagon was once the biggest free agent and one of the most over guys in North America. Now he is Fenix’s brother. Wtf happened....is he due for a solo run?
honestly I think that's the worst thing for him. Right now he's dead in the water, like damn near all of the other non-Bullet Club-affiliated talent they signed that was bigger before AEW. Is anyone without a tie to Japan fukked with at all over there?
He was big in LU because they let him have a mystique. He did his shyt, he was a badass, and then he was gone. Goldberg-esque in a sense. AEW has overexposed him in the worst possible ways, but he's also too intent on getting his shyt in with the cero miedo thing, to the detriment of the matches and his opponents. Taking the glove off slowly and all that is trash tbh.
Different philosophies. LU was a narrative show with wrestling as a framework. Character work takes precident over ring work in that situation.
Him going out there and having 20 minute matches with the Bucks filled with WTF moves that everyone kicks out of is only going to expose him. He is the weaker worker between him and Fenix, they got someone else talking for him and basically dulling everything he does say by repeating it like an assistant pimp afterwards, and he can't really be with the ultraviolence shyts on a roster full of indy dudes willing to bleed for a modicum of TV time. Not in a company that already gave Nick Gage a fukking singles match.
Only way you get anything out of him at this point is to have him turn on his brother, put Fenix on the shelf from the attack for a while, and run with a gimmick of 'if he'd do that to his brother, what will he do to everyone else?!?'. Double points if you have him put Cody on the shelf for a couple months with an arm injury.
Failing that, he's, what? Matt Jackson in a mask with a beer gut and fading asskicker cred? Matt Hardy with mostly functional knees and a -2 in CHR? Charlie Haas with a Narcotics Anonymous chip?
Buddy needs a gimmick shift and some character rehab. Where's the man that had folks itching for him to take out Matanza? The dude who ain't give a fukk who had to get the hands: Mil Mascaras or the Black Lotus? Buddy not even seen in the same league anymore. All he gonna do is get in Danielson's/Punk's/MJF's/Hangman's way. Best case scenario, he could probably do a good program with Darby but... you ain't finna sacrifice that man's rise for fukking Pentagon, so best he can do is lose to Darby.
