Penn St Removes Paterno Statue/NCAA about to Drop the Hammer

Imo the statue should stay. Paterno had a lot to.do with the popularity and growth of that institution. And didnt he basically build the library?

Im sure Notre Dame and BC have some kind of shrine to a Pope on their campus. Will yjey have to take them down as well?

Someone jokingly tweeted that the statue should be placed in the PSU library to remind ppl to remain SILENT.

THEY MAKE INDIFFERENT COMPANIONS.

In/around Feb 2001, Curley, Schultz, & Spanier were informed of what McQuary saw in the shower. They decided (by email) to confront Sandusky AND to tell the cops & child protective services about Sandusky. JoePa vetoed their plan (by phone or in person): NO TELLING cops & child protective services about Sandusky! Those 3 men then emailed about how they'd comply with JoePa's suggestion to handle the matter internally at PSU cuz it'd be more "humane" for Sandusky. Those 3 men emailed that they knew they were not satisfying PSU's reporting obligation, thereby leaving PSU vulnerable to suit. JoePa didn't email anything.

An administrator (Curley or Schultz or Spanier) kept a file on Sandusky FOR YEARS. The emails in that file did NOT match the grand jury testimony of Curley & Schultz. Thus the perjury charges.

PSU had 20 boxes labeled "Sandusky" in storage. There were pics of JS with victims & other boys. There were lists of 2nd Mile kids with asterisks by some boys' names.

I think this will be part of the judgment. Let the players transfer without having to sit out a year. It will give the kids a couple weeks to try and fund new schools before camp starts.

I agree with you in part that we need to have a balanced view of all that Joe has done, but this is THE biggest child abuse scandal/cover up in recent memory. He deserves the punishment he's getting & the damage it's doing to his legacy.

Im not defending him. Im saying the school should be punished, but the statue should stay. Joe Pa actually notified his bosses. His bosses shoulda had ballz.

They better at least leave his name on the library. If they do that, fukk the statue.

It's crazy how students/alumni/fans of the University are blinded by their "love" of the school.

I don't think many of these people realize that Paterno would have let their children/friends/etc. get molested.

I think football operations should be suspended for at least 3 years

A new culture needs to form at psu. Destroy and rebuild... As of now the psu community still puts football over the victims. Nothing has been learned yet
