They were blatant about this shyt in the scripts for movies too. I was just watching Commando this past weekend and was at the part when they were telling Arnold what they were going to do to his daughter. Just today (yesterday now) in the Last Boy Scout, old dude tells Bruce Willis that he's going show his daughter "how much of a hot date I am."

I know (at least hope) this is done to show how repugnant the villains are, which in turn makes their comeuppance that much sweeter. I hope anyway
