Ppl call me paranoid because I almost refuse to sit under a bridge in traffic. lol the irony is I went to school for architecture but I also have a minor background in civil engineering. I don’t trust these bridges. Especially ones built three generations ago
my Biggest fear is either being stuck on top or bottom of a bridge during heavy traffic

Hell
That school might as well shut down. They and the construction and design teams are about to be sued into nonexistence.

R.I.P to the victims unless they were racists. Then they can burn in hell.

:yeshrug:

Did the school ask for the bridge? How did the school get dragged into this? Just asking. Isn't it just a department of transportation issue since they got the loan to hire someone to build the bridge.

I’m not sure them asking for it matters. It was part of their campus.

It was very necessary because the dorms are right across SW 8th street from the campus. Students have to cross a very very very busy southwest 8th street which is dangerous. So dangerous that a student died last year in August.

FIU student killed by car as she crosses a street near the main campus

The bridge was put up sometime last week. I remember driving under and thinking, "wow, how is this bridge being held up? This is pretty cool." The bridge had columns supporting it on both ends of the street but I didn't see anything in the middle. It was just a long flat piece of concrete sitting on two columns. No cables in sight.

The contractor who won this bid is going to be in a world of pain. Reminds me of the Miami-Dade college garage collapse. Unnecessary deaths.
