ESPN and ABC are joining Al Haymon's boxing party.

The sports network told USA TODAY Sports Tuesday that Premier Boxing Champions, the brainchild of reclusive boxing mogul Haymon, will air a dozen two-hour live boxing shows on ESPN and ABC annually.

The inaugural PBC on ESPN show will air on Saturday, July 11, with a venue and participants to be announced soon, according to Brian Kweder, ESPN's senior director of programming and acquisitions. ABC broadcasts will air on Saturday afternoon, with further details to be announced at a later date.

The new series will replace ESPN's Friday Night Fights, which celebrates its last show on Friday, May 22, with the finals of the Boxcino 2015 tournament.

im not sure how i feel about this....ive watched this shyt since it started, been to live FNFs, the whole nine..an era is coming to an end for real but at least this wont change

Although PBC on ESPN means the end of "Friday Night Fights" after a 17-year run, blow-by-blow announcer Joe Tessitore and analyst Teddy Atlas, both ringside fixtures on FNF, will continue in their roles on the PBC cards. Additional on-air commentators will be announced at a later date.

we need teddy to continue to provide the fukkery that can only come from him..they better not tell him he cant have ppl come to him during commercial breaks with liquor to consume...we need that

.
So we're only going to get 12 fights a year while FNF was providing fights every friday over like 6-8 month period? So less boxing? 1 Fight a month essentially?

This. Not feeling this move at all.
Funny thing is in an earlier thread someone intimated, I can't remember who, that this new PBC series might threaten FNF and I replied saying that I think FNF will stay around and those who were watching it would continue watching it. Then this happened :sadcam:

I'm over here just eating crow..

I am not a fan of this at all. If it was in addition to FNF then I would be ecstatic but to take away FNF is basically screwing over the smaller promoters and removes the possibility of seeing a future star at the start of his journey or really entertaining middle of the road fighters who don't get shine on HBO or Showtime.
