You wouldn't ask a barber for a blend. That's not a type of haircut. Blending is using the clippers to knockout out the guideline when doing a fade or taper so you don't see the layers.

The fade in the OP is messed up because there's a thicker layer of hair and then it's bald. It needs the be cut more so the layers of hair blend together.

Go watch any barber video where they're doing a fade tutorial and they'll say blend.
