"maybe Im wrong. Maybe it'll be a success. I just don't see it."

Guess they got their shyt together and pooled their resources for a few years.

Still and all, though... Heyman got the finest mind for the busi-

look, man. Heyman's mind is a fukking machine.

In hindsight Paulie wasn't that far off. :manny: WCW Nitro really rode NWO and the cruiserweights to years of success. At the end, Bishoff couldn't cut the mustard.

I find it funny that Jim Cornette aint a fan. He has some interesting things to say about Heyman. Both of them are business geniuses...just because they aren't fiscal geniuses doesn't take away from their almost endless wrestling wisdom.

I always felt that Heyman and Cornette's problem was...

it's like when you watching those movies or cartoons or reading comics if that's your thing....

Geniuses respect the knowledge base of other geniuses. But their arrogance in their own intelligence will never let them share the same space for long.

Cornette ain't no business genius (SMW had some interesting peaks, specially considering the time they were having some success but that wasn't no genius stuff). He could book his ass off but even that seems to be completely gone now.

When I said "business genius" I meant a genius within the frameworks of the business of wrestling. Nobody is going to call either one of them a fiscal genius, which is what McMahon is.

I think deep down Cornette is jealous of the success of Heyman and ECW. Cornette thought that SMW was going to earn him world wide acclaim, and revolutionize the industry, by taking it back to the old school. They were outta business in 3 years, while ECW became a phenomenon: secured PPV's, national TV deals, DVD retrospectives, years long revival tv show on WWE, and overall earned Paul E the reputation as the probably the greatest wrestling mind of his generation. Paul then jumps from ECW to WWE, and produced TV that many consider to be the best run of WWE TV ever, with his Smackdown 6. Everybody loves Paul --- hes a featured and respected character on Raw, and a trusted Vince ally. Cornette got hurt feelings.

Its a shame because Cornette could offer the E a lot of wisdom. Just as long as he doesn't have any real authority.

Other than the bolded (I think it's more an uneasy truce than trusted ally), this is spot on. Heyman is a visionary who had, and still has, an eye towards the future and evolving the business whereas Cornette can't and couldn't adapt with the times and got left behind. Every Cornette interview seems to be him bytching about someone having heat and political issues backstage.

It's a shame Heyman was the one in charge of the financials of the OG ECW. The bullshyt that happened with the money casts a shadow over the product and how innovative it was at the time.
