its a fact but since yall on lebrons dikk u cant accept it

prior to getting shaq they were an irrelevant franchise with no history, mind you shaq was a 3 time champion at the time fresh off of 4 straight finals appearances

they acquired a ringless lebron/bosh who just got bounced out of the playoffs/completely missed the playoffs while the heat already had championship history.. lebron went to them after they got bosh because he needed them, whereas on the other hand they needed shaq and not the other way around

this was a pretty predictable post by coli standards. if you read the whole article he's not mad or slighting anybody.

Pretty predictable retort, I did read it. I'm looking beyond the article and I stand by what I said.

Pat Riley: Acquiring Shaquille O'Neal Was Bigger Than Getting Big 3

Sep 2, 2016

Pat Riley recently told Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel that trading for Shaquille O’Neal was "bigger than any acquisition that we ever made, including the Big Three."

Bigger than drafting the best player in franchise history, Dwyane Wade, in 2003?

Bigger than the 2010 signings of LeBronJames and Chris Bosh, who won two titles in four years?

Apparently so.

Riley views the team's first championship, delivered by Wade and O'Neal in 2006, in high esteem.

"The seminal moment to really make us really, really legitimate,” Riley told Winderman of O'Neal's arrival. "He turned our franchise around. He gave us real legitimacy."

Shaq will be enshrined in the Hall of Fame next week, which is the reason for Riley's praise.

I AGREE
Are you posting this to say that Shaq is better than the 3 of them combined? Be careful with your answer :smugfavre:

Shaq was coming of a 3year run from 2000-2002 where he was arguably better than any player in NBA history, only MJs best 3 year run was on that level.

Shaq was THAT dominant and was very popular as well, Miami never really had a player like that before him. Not Zo, not Wade :manny:

Shaq Recounts His Almost Physical Fight With Pat Riley in New Autobiography

How much of a badass is Pat Riley? Enough of a badass to go toe-to-toe and face-to-face with Shaq. Sure, Riley's not exactly diminutive at 6'4", but Shaq is nine inches taller and 27 years younger than him. :shaq:

Shaq recounts the near-fight that he had with Riley one day that pretty much ended his career with the Miami Heat in his new memoir, Shaq, Uncut: My Story. :francis:

Deadspin has obtained a number of excerpts, including Shaq's remembrance of the Riley fight.

My ticket out of Miami was punched in mid-February 2008. There was a lot of tension between Pat and the players. So we're about to start practice and Jason Williams comes in about ten seconds late. Pat being Pat, he starts swearing at him and screaming, "Get the hell out of here!"...:leon:

I tell Pat we're a team and we need to stick together, not throw guys out of the gym. Pat is screaming at me and says if I don't like it, then I should get the hell out of practice, too.:mjpls:

That's when I said, "Why don't you make me?" :birdman:

I start taking a couple of steps towards Pat. Udonis Haslem steps in and I shove him out of the way. Then Zo tries to grab me. I threw him aside like he was a rag doll. :lupe: Now it's me and Riley face-to-face, jaw to jaw. I'm poking him in the chest and he keeps slapping my finger away and it's getting nasty. Noisy, too. He's yelling "fukk you!" and I'm yelling back, "No, fukk you!" :ooh:

Zo is trying to calm us both down and he has this kind of singsong panic in his voice. He keeps saying, "Big fella, no big fella, big fella!" I finally turn around and tell him, "Don't worry, I'm not going to hit the man. Do you think I'm crazy?":russ:

However, Shaq's memory may be a bit fuzzy. Mourning had torn a tendon in his knee in late of December 2007, so it most likely wouldn't have been during practice. According to reports at the time, the fight took place in early December, not mid-February.

Whatever the timing though, this is for sure: we would not want to get into a fight with Pat Riley. If he can take on Shaq in a stare-down we'd be scared to see what he'd do with someone who isn't 7'1".

Lemongrass, cherries, alkaline water

From the article in OP

I had a lot of dustups with players, all of them, every single one that I've ever coached, every superstar, every Hall of Famer," Riley says. "There were disagreements at times. These are great players. I'm demanding and those are demanding players. So sometimes things would cross the line, with me to them and them to me. But when Shaq left, it was not on the best terms, but it was best for everybody. And there wasn't any one thing. It was just time."

Heat also retiring his number next season, but yea you right
