yea i should of put what is that depression stemming from thats what i actually ment my bad breh breh

he wanted to go to heaven but why did he want to kill himself? some backround stuff had to be going on
the decade between the first attempt and this final attempt makes me think it really is "clinical depression" since doctors label it that when the depression lasts a long time. it is common to have clinical depression along with other problems, but it seems his parents have never alluded to anything else.

Damn shame, especially since he seemed to be getting the best care money could buy as well (medical and spiritual). Some things you just can't fix, I suppose.

Its gotta be torture to bury your child. Its probably something I would never recover from.

To quote John Q. "I will not bury my son/daughter, my son/daughter will bury me"

But the reason this is news, I suppose, is because its a safe assumption that Pastor Warren's prayers were not answered regarding his son. The article also states that Warren also had the best healthcare. That insinuates that the Warrens knew their faith in whatever deity was not enough or did not have the faith that god would fix it.

I think we can have a mature discussion about this.

Kinda reminds of Tony Dungy's son killing himself. Also rich and devoutly Christian.

Depression is just hormone and chemical imbalance and if your life isn't going perfect then it exasperates it and i'd imagine if you suffer such an imbalance and your Serotonin levels are low or go from high to low that any little thing could trigger your depression like your girlfriend not calling you back soon enough or something

And we all know regardless of who you are and how successful you may be life just has ups and downs that aren't even in your control sometimes.

Even religious people don't like to believe that God or something from beyond controls every aspect of life because then what is the purpose of going through trials and tribulations if its all planned out. We are all outfitted with different physical and mental capabilities and its up to us in our upbringing to cultivate our best features and put them to good use and maximize your personal happiness...and there are millions of people in the world sometimes you get caught up in a situation out of your control and you get killed or someone you love experiences a bad illness...you just accept its part of life and try to minimize your risks by not being involved in gang life or staying healthy where you can.

Subject: Needing your prayers

To my dear staff,

Over the past 33 years we’ve been together through every kind of crisis. Kay and I’ve been privileged to hold your hands as you faced a crisis or loss, stand with you at gravesides, and prayed for you when ill. Today, we need your prayer for us.

No words can express the anguished grief we feel right now. Our youngest son, Matthew, age 27, and a lifelong member of Saddleback, died today.

You who watched Matthew grow up knew he was an incredibly kind, gentle, and compassionate man. He had a brilliant intellect and a gift for sensing who was most in pain or most uncomfortable in a room. He’d then make a bee-line to that person to engage and encourage them.

But only those closest knew that he struggled from birth with mental illness, dark holes of depression, and even suicidal thoughts. In spite of America’s best doctors, meds, counselors, and prayers for healing, the torture of mental illness never subsided. Today, after a fun evening together with Kay and me, in a momentary wave of despair at his home, he took his life.

Kay and I often marveled at his courage to keep moving in spite of relentless pain. I’ll never forget how, many years ago, after another approach had failed to give relief, Matthew said “ Dad, I know I’m going to heaven. Why can’t I just die and end this pain?” but he kept going for another decade.

Thank you for your love and prayers. We love you back.

Pastor Rick

:heh: @ "depression"

Did that lil kak suffer from the traumas of war? Poverty? Criminality? Did he watch his parents die before his eyes? Was he a victim of rape?

Lil white boy grew up rich but was empty as fukk on the inside because his life was meaningless, no values, no culture, no purpose

I guess he is going to hell according to pastor warren

Yeah that makes for quite a dilemma for a devoutly religious man like Rick Warren. If he's sincere in his beliefs (and I think he is) he can't escape the fact that according to his religion, his son is going to Hell.

I remember I saw this clip a while back on the 700 Club where this caller told Pat Robertson that her dad denied Christianity up until the moment he died and she asked could he have made it to Heaven. Robertson was like, "Nah, he's in Hell." :laff:

Harsh, but that's exactly what the Bible says.

now pat robertson is the kinda guy that deserves no mercy. he has years of horrible comments under his belt. he's an old school troll. in a way, i kinda respect that he trolls IRL with his name and face known, but still, he is foul.
