The money is not an issue, or should not be an issue since the round trip ticket is usually close to half the amount they want to see. This is not the DR. The problem is showing all of your transactions, account numbers and other banking information to get in. That is not cool at all and is pretty much going to cancel my trip to Brazil for Carnival.

If i known you had to show all of the transactions and the rest, not just the money, i would of flew there next week before the new rules and stayed until Carnival and head back after.

Yeah it's ridiculous you ask rich foreigners what's in their bank accounts just to gain entry...:wtf: that shyt sounds SHADY ASF.. you have no idea if you gonna be set up in a foreign country... people go missing and you just cool with showing foreign wolves how much you have???? :what: would you show people HERE how much you have??? :dahell: a scam is a scam...

I do think they are trying to make the process onerous to get the countries they targeted (U,S,, Canada, Australia and Japan) to have a reciprocal visa free agreement:

Japan's visa exemption for Brazilian visitors staying for a maximum of 90 days was announced by Prime Minister Fumio Kishida during a meeting with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in May.

In 2019, Brazil scrapped its visa requirement for entry by Japanese travelers to the South American nation for short stays, with the aim of reviving a tourism industry that had been sluggish due in part to a deterioration of the domestic security situation.

Brazil, however, said in March it would reinstate the requirement for citizens of Japan to secure tourist visas from Oct. 1 unless Tokyo takes measures to accept visa-free travel for nationals of the South American country. Australia, Canada and the United States were also given the same ultimatum.

The latest decision by Japan spurred Brazil to withdraw the requirement, the ministry said.

economically speaking, imagine if they made you deposit it on a card and it has to be spent withib 14 days of arrival … this would be nice for the local economy

It wont deter anything. they need to up their corruption game. Amateurs.

If this were an African nation, they would require you to put the 2k in their govt accounts for the remainder of your stay, and then charge you a convenience fee to get it back:pachaha:

Dubai does that for some African nation they hold like 1000 and you get your I back when you returnn

Brazil is home to the largest Japanese population outside Japan. Since the 1980s, a return migration has emerged of Japanese Brazilians to Japan.

If i find myself a blasian (brazil/jap) I'm wifing her :wow: inshallah i'll be there for carnival 2024. Back to the motherland for a few days :wow:

$2k is not that much. I seriously doubt it will deter many of the men going there now, since most of them have the disposable income to easily maintain far more than $2k in the bank.
It's not that much, but most Americans are living paycheck to paycheck.

They will just keep upping the barrier of entry until they outright come out and ban passport bros.

Brazil is also where apartheid is openly practiced against the Black populace. I don't know where people get the idea that Brazil is glamorous or safe from.
Black Brazilians are treated like shyt over there, trust me.

The world is truly delusional about Brazil and generally South America. Personally I'd never visit.

Above the fray.
This is a policy that's been used in different countries for years.

Generally applies to non US citizens and non Schengen country citizens.
Have to have proof of medical insurance also.
They wanted to make sure that "tourists" are actually tourists.

Americans were exempt. Apparently, not anymore.

Agree with @num123 about what could be behind this change by Brazil, but the increase in sexual tourism might factor also.
