I saw this the other day and knew it would be posted here. Nikkas in here hating hard. Breh is a fukkin computer engineer and came up during the tech boom. He was making $750k+ per year. His knowledge and career experiences alone means he can go back at anytime and make a salary most you would only dream off or never reach in life. Looks like he probably burned out and decided to travel. Settling in Dubai means you pay zero taxes. I'm sure he's investing. Even safe investments in broad market indexes making you 4-5% on $4 million will earn you $160k+.per year. He's definitely not average.
That’s what I was thinking. His 4 mil probably gets him a preferred rate wherever he banks and it’s not a stretch to say he might have something like an annuity that pays him 5% yearly. That’s 200k.

Been working as an oil&gas expat in the gulf region for a bit now so i actually hit up Dubai pretty often for leisure. I done walked through all the places you saw him at, countless of times.

What i agree with
The retired breh is correct that in the GCC (UAE, Saudi, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, etc) ppl are judged more by their passport than their skin color; with the blue passport definitely being at the top. As others in the know have said, it's certainly a weird feeling being on the receiving side of "privilege". He's also correct about safety; the number 1 thing most women will tell you/have told me about Dubai is they feel safe. For all the debauchery that goes on behind the scenes, incel behavior gets snuffed out quick. Same feedback of safety from those who have families/children.

What probably needs to be clarified
Cost of living... he downplayed it a bit but Dubai is (or can be) very expensive. Obviously a bunch of low-income foreigners live there too, so it's not like everybody has lambos. It's actually a ton of just normal ppl with families but of different colors and cultures. But if you're a westerner don't think its one of those "i'm moving to portugal or colombia to live in luxury for 1/4th of the price" type deals. That luxury gonna cost you. You saw it in his video... he takes out 15k/month for which 9k goes to expenses.

My ex was a lawyer for a big time firm there; 230-250k/year salary and lived in similar accomodations as buddy in the video, with a similar 4-5k/month rent and personal driver as well. I've also dated the Emirates cabin crew girls who make just a fraction of that salary but obviously live more on the outskirts of the prime real estate spots with far lower rent/expenses.

Ultimately, my coworkers (american expats) and i occassionally muse about "retiring" in Dubai, as opposed to just returning to the states but for us the math ain't mathing with the expenses. I clicked on this video curious about how dude made it work and what were his investments to retire at a young age...

... only to find out buddy was already making over $1 million/year as a salary man in the USA :dead:

I mean, that will definitely help expedite early retirement lol

The Truth
Just watched the vid.. this dude is basically living the goals.

I understand it now.. yeah, he’s just settling in Dubai but already said he was already in 9 different countries and chose Dubai for a lot of legit reasons. Centrally located, quality of life, crime, and most importantly, they treat him like an american man first and not a nikka.. which is true in a lot of non-Americanized places.

Sets a budget and goes under it

$400-$600 might seem like a lot for a driver per month but if it’s covered, better than a car note, insurance, and gas.

He seemed normal af.. like a lot of black dudes in tech. And you would be surprised at the amount of single guys his age. Sounds like he just made connections and moved up. A million dollar salary is still wild.. but I would do the same.

Living in Dubai probably wasn’t no different that areas where Tech people live. Then exploring your hobbies, learning to DJ, etc…

Goodness gracious the assumptions and projections in this thread are wild. Some of y'all gotta expand your horizons

Breh did what most people want to do and can't do but he's getting mad hate.

Like there's a whole world outside the US. The biggest thing for the USA really is the greenbacks. If you can make dollars virtually you'll find there are other places in this world that offer you better quality of living (low crime, no taxes, centrally located in the globe, better quality food).

I like these types of stories where people make their wealth through steady accumulation and financial discipline. No crazy inheritance or lottery windfall, wasn't running some get rich quick scam. Just kept his expenses low and avoided many of the major financial pitfalls that keep people on the corporate hamster wheel forever.
