But he did clearly go over him, after saying for weeks that Simmons would only be able to drive his limo, and Harley told Simmons that he used to have a boy like him to carry his bags...

...so we bushin' Luger or nah?
Luger isnt thought of highly around here anyway except for the Narcissist entrance.

Kang didn’t want to put over Hoegan supporting Booker Tom, I’ll always have respect for Kang for being brave enough to not take the L at 19

Breh... after Halloween Havoc, Ron started floating around on the card until they put the belt on him the following summer, strictly because Vader was injured and needed to drop it. Then he was undercard as champ, then dropped the belt back to Vader soon as Vader was able to go again. Next thing you know, Simmons wasn't even making the card for PPVs anymore.

If you remember, tell me that didn't happen.

Now in honesty, I don't think Luger the person was racist because he played this role... what was he gonna do, tell Herd "no" and quit... but the storyline was clearly meant to imply racism. So... since wrestling stoylines apparently = real life, we bushin' Luger or nah?

Didn't they put the belt on him because of a possible discrimination lawsuit?

WWE needs a discrimination lawsuit put on em

Nah, I think that was before... Ron was champ when Bill Watts was in charge back in '92. I believe Dusty was pushing for him to win it and was his biggest supporter. Vader needed to drop it due to injury, but they didn't want him to drop it back to Sting so soon. Watts said something in '93 about Denny's having the right to discriminate against Black people if that's what they wanna do, which caught crazy backlash and he was let go.

I felt like they were trying to elevate simmons with the luger feud.

his title run was filler tho. they didn't even try to give him a serious spotlight as champ.

The Luger feud was definitely an elevation, just to show that he was a dude who could hang with the main stars at the time. He had just broken away from Doom, so he needed a boost, but I kinda knew even then that he wasn't gonna win the belt just yet.

The run was pretty bland and didn't do much for him. That win was a classic moment for all times, but after that, he feuds with The Barbarian who had just got there and wasn't doin' much. Ron was their world champ havin' a TV title feud. Then after he lost the belt, he was damn near nonexistent, like he never even won it. Just badly mishandled all the way around.

now I got that itch to dig in my VHS collection and pull out Halloween havoc '91, and superbrawl I.

and yea, when they put him in the upper-midcard of havoc '92, defending against the barbarian, I lost all interest.

BTW, why nobody tell me the Z-MAN died?
