I get not wanting the Kanye alternative hip hop influence to take them down a different lane.

Lots of filler on their albums, I still think Everybody's Safe Until... is their best song, they need to mature when it comes to songwriting.
agreed

songs like that and Bullet Man is where i see them headed. Str8 garageband raps :blessed:

"CHROMAKIDIA: THE WORLD TOUR" will be the first performance in eight years by Tyler the Creator, which will be held at Ariake Arena in Tokyo on September 9th and 10th. Paris Texas is a support group on all dates of this world tour. Paris Texas is a hip-hop duo from LA who are known for their new originality that freely transcends the boundaries of genres. The new EPs “They Left Me With The Sword” and “They Left Me With A Gun” have just been released as a surprise for two consecutive weeks. I interviewed Louis Pastel and Felix just before coming to Japan.

ーTwo years ago, my visit to Japan was canceled, but it’s finally here.

Louis: I'm just having fun.

“When I was little, I would dream about Japan.”

Louis: That's's right. There are two reasons. First of all, Japan seemed to be the only place that was not so influenced by the Western world. I’m not going to take Europe, Brazil, or Mexico lightly, but I think it’s quite similar to the United States. Also, when I was a child, I grew up in touch with Japanese culture. Anime, and so is the music. I wanted to go to Japan because Japan seemed to be a cool place. When I was a child, my mother told me that if I could graduate from high school, I could go to Japan, but it didn't happen. But the other day, I got a message from my mother saying, "I can finally go." In Japan, everything feels very exotic.

- I also love Japanese music, and I like the band FACT.

**Louis:**I love the band FACT. I also like Maximal the Hormone, SOIL & "PIMP" SESSIONS, ONE OK ROCK, and Midori.

Felix: For me, the entrance to Japan is fashion and video games. When I was a kid, I didn’t think the world was bigger than my own. When I was playing games, when I was watching anime, I was just enjoying the content, and I didn’t know where it was coming from. But there are things I learned as an adult, and that's really interesting now. It would be so hot when I went to Japan, but I wanted to wear a suit like a salaryman and walk around all day. Speaking of which, it seems that the NEO TOKYO-like game center closed in 2017. That was what I wanted to go to. I also want to see the Gundam standing statue.

- You are currently on tour with Tyler the Creator. Do you remember when you received a tour offer from Tyler?

Louis: We didn't even know Tyler was on tour. I didn’t even want to write a song with Tyler. Not because he doesn’t like his music, but because he’s an inspiration to us. So it was more important to be recognized in some way than to write a song. The alternative hip-hop scene in LA is the crazy ride he started, and he keeps it going. So, when I got the first offer, I thought my heart would stop. Finally!” that's it.

Do you remember the first time you met Tyler?

Felix: I'm sure it was after the shooting of XLARGE. I met him at a Mexican restaurant. At that time, as we talked about various things, we talked about the album "MID AIR" that we released, and told us a little bit about where he was going musically at that time. That was before he released "Chroma Kopia". He also told me about the songs he was working on at the time. Also, one of the photographers who was helping me at the site seems to have tried to buy a car from Tyler a long time ago. It was a long reunion for the two of them.

-The tour that is currently around is a long run from February, and it is a large-scale one that performs more than eighty performances around the world. How is the tour so far?

Louis: So far, it feels good. In the first two months of the year, I was warm-up in Europe, but I'm getting used to it.

Felix: is getting better now.

Louis: Every show is insanely crazy. Everyone is welcome and we are having great fun too.

- What's the best show ever?

Felix: Melbourne and Paris in Australia this time were crazy.

I'm doing a nearly 100 show, and they're all crazy.

How was your home town of LA? You sold out the six-day arena show at Crypto.com Arena.

Felix: The third day was really great. My parents also came to see us.

On this tour, I think many of Tyler’s fans have become Paris Texas fans. How about more fans?

Louis: There is no doubt that Tyler has become more fond of us, and there are more fans than before. That's what Tyler was thinking from an early age. Tyler also gave me some advice and said, "Don't wear colorful clothes on stage." To be the main character on stage. If it is sober at the arena venue, it will not have a presence.

Felix: Also, Tyler was told to be careful about the set list when it comes to the performance and to choose a song that resonates well in a big venue. Even our favorite songs are not available in big venues. It's important to include songs that the audience wants to sing together and participate in in the set list. I think it feels just right now.

ーWhat kind of set list are you currently working on?

Louis: I try to be able to show various elements of Paris Texas. " "Girls Like Drugs" is the most exciting song, so I'm doing about the third song. From there, we did "NüWhip", because there are many fans who knew us with this song. This song is also a song that Tyler picked up, and it fits his world view very well. From there, we will also perform a new EP song and experience our musicality now. “FORCE OF HABIT” is a great song, “Hey, hey, hey!” A big blush is going to happen. Finally, we do Lana Del Rey.

- I watched the live video of "girls like drugs", and the audience started moshing with that song.

Felix: Yes, that's right.

Louis: do the japanese mosh?

- Of course. Lil Yotti won't be coming to the Japanese show, but will there be more live time or the set list will change?

Louis: i don't know. Well, it seems to be a look.

-Paris Texas is known for its musicality that crosses hip-hop and rock, but I think that it was completely different from other crossovers from other crossovers from the time it appeared in "Heavy Metal" in the first place. What do you think about the fusion of different genres?

Louis: For me it's like an extension of the same thing, so I think crossovers are easy to do. It wasn’t intentional at first, especially. But for me, as I grew up playing guitar, it's harder to distinguish between two genres. It’s a natural feeling, and I feel like I’m doing it as one thing. Maybe other people will try to "fint up genres", and they tend to be like rap mixtures and be a bad guy. For me, these two genres are the same, they are not different, they are very similar. When I listen to the beat, I always imagine, "Oh, don't put the guitar in here." So you can do it much more naturally than in words. You’ve done Run DMC and Beastie Boys in the past. If you look at the music video for "Walk This Way" where Run DMC and Aerosmith co-star, the genre and race are divided. That kind of racism is not real. Everyone looks different, the background culture is different, and everyone is different.

-Finally, I would like to know the two characters, can you talk to each other about the characters?

Felix: you're an underrated lyricist. A producer with talent and sense. People who act with a vision. A passionate artist with great ideas. While you can find the humor and the fun of life, you can also express a critique of how we live in the world. They are also full of loving friends. I like to joke, but I am a genius. And you're tall.

Louis: Felix is a really cool and thoughtful person. I'm always thinking about the flow of the story, and I'm always thinking about how to make rationale, how it should sound, and how to do it theoretically correct, while fighting inside myself. It’s so natural that it doesn’t even seem to make an effort. But I know how much he did to make it look natural. It's crazy, but I feel like I'm thinking dozens of steps ahead. He is a great man and I think he is a genius.
