A Texas mom freaked out after seeing a picture of her 14-year-old daughter on Facebook, not because she was shotgunning beers or something, but because she was wearing a burqa. The students were part of a geography class at Lumberton High School where an in-depth lesson about Islam was taught. In addition to dressing in burqas, the class was told not to say "Muslim terrorists" but rather "freedom fighters." The teacher — who told the class that she didn't necessarily agree with the material but was required to teach it — said the controversial curriculum was intended to change the students' perception of Islam. "The lesson is not teaching a specific religion, and the students volunteered to wear the clothing," the school district said in a statement. [Source]

The parents said they confronted their daughter and told her to explain exactly what she had been taught.
“They were asked about their perception of Islam,” she said. “Most of the class said they thought about terrorism. And her response was, ‘we’re going to change the way we perceive Islam.’”
The teacher reportedly told the students that she did not necessarily agree with the lessons –but she was required to teach the material.
The Lumberton Independent School District released a statement to Fox News defending the class.
“The lesson that was offered focused on exposing students to world cultures, religions, customs and belief systems,” the statement read. “The lesson is not teaching a specific religion, and the students volunteered to wear the clothing.”
The school district said Judaism and Christianity were also part of the lesson. However, the parents said Christianity was not discussed in the classroom.
“The Christian perspective was not taught,” she said. “They went in-depth into Islam and I’m not comfortable with it.”

lmao @ this. If you look at the board behind the students in that pic, it clearly lists Islam and their denominations, Judaism and the denominations, and Christianity's denominations. So much fail. It's clear that different religions in different parts of the world was also discussed.

:ehh: I dont see the problem here..let the kids try out the potato sacks and teach them the truth about islam..the more you know about it the more ridiculous it seems

the more these parents fuss the more it seems cool edgy and mysterious to the kids...especially the rebellious ones.

Yeah, if they saw their daughter drunk at a party, they wouldn't care.

:what:

Thats a silly assumption..most parents would care if their 14 yr old daughter was drunk...

Frankly as a parent i can tell you that would upset me more than her joining your bronze age desert cult

I miss your vicious, acerbic anti-Islam posts bruh. You should've been here around the time of the Innocence of Muslims film brouhaha. It was full-scale jihad in here. That moron Timbo even showed up for minute. :heh:

Couldn't you teach without making young women dress in what is essentially a modern day cloth shackle?

Before some of Muslim idiots come in here to attack me, let's all take a second and realize that MOST Muslims don't adhere to making women wear such nonsense (as you guys like to point out).

Yeah, bringing in clothing for the children to wear and play dress up might be a little much. Though, to be fair the kids volunteered and willing put them on. Still not a good look though.

The fact that the kids are wearing niqabs, burqahs and general Arab clothes shows they don't get that Islam is a religion and not an ethnicity. The vast majority of Muslims do not dress like that.
