So much history has been lost after the Ice Age. Majority of the monuments in Africa, South America are 10,000 plus years old. Like to add there were plenty of different humanoids on earth that we find every couple of years. The Cromagnon, Neatherdthal, pygmies and different species. Mammals didn't get to be the size of dinosaurs because of the energy expenditure required to regulate body temperature. Dinosaurs had no such restriction since, as reptilians, their temperature was regulated by radiation from the sun + ambient heat. The extra energy they absorbed above and beyond that needed for temperature regulation allowed them to grow as large as a 3 or 4-story building.

You might wonder: Why aren't there any dinosaurs/reptiles that large now? The answer lies in the Earth's distant past. The entire world's climate was different, there was more oxygen/nitrogen/etc. and the Sun was closer. This allowed for explosive growth of vegetation and an increase in the planet's temperature which assisted in the gargantuan sizes of some dinosaurs since more food + more heat = bigger dinosaurs.

Then, an asteroid came and crushed the buildings. Mega-reptiles were unable to cope with the temperature change and the reduction in their food supplies. This allowed mammals to gain a foothold in niches previously occupied by dinosaurs. The rest is, as they say, history.

After some more reading I'm now a skeptic again. I think maybe there were some 8 foot folks out and about that were like normal people but the dinosaur type people are all but impossible.
