Getting back on topic - hopefully the arrest of the mullah moves people to realize that the blasphemy laws are easily misused for no reason and there is a movement for repeal (without anyone getting killed this time).

VVD - I think you're overestimating - even in urban Pakistan, unless you're dealing with mullahs and Islamic party activists, if you simply declare your non-belief in the normal course of things, at the most people will say you will go to hell. But of course, if you go around calling the prophet a fraud etc, then the chances are higher. India is different, because you have some state protections and a minority Muslim population, that it is less likely.

I said I wasn't talking about his locale in India. He keeps talking about the entirety of the Muslim world when leaps to the defense of "his community," so that's what I was talking about as well.

Yeah I cant support condemnation of an entire religion where it has members all over the world. I just happen to think Pakistani muslims in general are a fukked up people with a fukked up culture. I guess you can attribute some of that to religion, but there's plenty of decent modernized/americanized muslims out there in the world.

Pakistan, afgahnistan, parts of india have some of the most culturally inferior back asswards people on the planet, regardless of religion. Maybe there was a lot of inter-breeding over there the last few centuries or something, i dont know...
