He's not finished but he needs to get in the ring so his skills wont deteriorate. Plus he doesn't want to waste his prime years away not fighting unless his heart just isn't in it and maybe he's ready to retire and focus on broadcasting.

Boxing isn't something you can do half hearted. If his heart isn't in it anymore I rather he retire than see him get stretched by Jaime Noble on Sunday Night Heat. :manny:

I'm riding with #SOGGang either way

#2 pound for pound and there is nothing they can do about it :banderas:

The ONLY way SOG is losing that #2 spot is if he gives it up:sas2:

You can see it with how much he has improved in broadcasting. He's not just "the boxer" on the crew anymore, good for him.

Q: Your new job is being a television analyst for HBO. How is that going, and was there an adjustment getting comfortable criticizing other boxers?
A:
I love it. Get to make a living not taking any punches. No one is trying to take your head off, and I get the best seat in the house, talking about something I love.
(Longtime announcer) Jim (Lampley) told me I have to find that balance, and it's tough. I know what the fighters are going through, and even though a guy is not performing well and I respect what he's put in ... and that he's taking punches, I have to say why he's not performing well. It's tough, and I haven't mastered that yet.
You can critique without trashing a guy.

Yeah, the signs are there, and I don't believe anyone is looking too far into his comments. At the same time though, he says the following........

Q: Are you mad that you're in the prime of your career, and are sitting on a shelf?
A:
I'm human. I'm human. I have my wife to talk and vent to, Virgil (Hunter, his trainer) to talk and vent to, same with my pastor (former Raiders running back Napoleon Kaufman). I have good days and bad days. It's very frustrating. It's a very tough season right now.

So who knows. It's amazing how someone can be too good for his own good, both at his profession, and ethically/morally/etc..

It sucks because he would have to go against everything he stands for to get people to wanna watch. Nothing riles up Boxing fans (non-black) more than a nikka who is the best and lets them know about it. I wish he would move to 175 and fight Kovalev, because these white boys actually thin Ward would get knocked out. Make em mad Dre!

The way he can get people to watch is to actually fight. All I ever hear from Ward is why he shouldn't fight this guy, why he doesn't need to fight that guy, etc.

I don't understand why he doesn't just take these supposed easy paychecks just to stay active. I have to question if he really enjoys boxing all that much

Real Talk it sounds like Ward is upset because he isn't the superstar that he thinks he is. Dude feels like he should be getting 2-3 mil pay days against jobbers instead of making the 1 to 1.5 mil he'd be getting against actual threats like Kovalev and Pascal. I know cats are gonna act like I'm throwing shade, but dude just has this vibe like he's done enough in his career already to be getting universal praise and respect along with big pay days. He has a light heavyweight division ripe for the taking, but he rather try an convince smaller men or dude's he's beaten before to take a pay cut against him so that he can have an easy fight.

Everybody around him is pretty much going on with there career while he's catching feelings trying to convince casuals why he should be a star. I can't remember the last p4p# 2 boxer that struggled to get big fights or any fight really. Dude just needs to humble himself and squash shyt with Goosen and get it popping.

like I said before, ward doesn't have to stay at 175. he can always comeback down and fight froch or chavez at 168.

Andre Ward Seeks Criminal Investigation on Goossen

Last update:
8/5/2014

by David P. Greisman

Super middleweight champion Andre Ward’s latest legal move against promoter Dan Goossen and his Goossen Tutor Promotions is a lawsuit filed in federal court alleging violations of the Muhammad Ali Boxing Reform Act.

The lawsuit was filed Monday in the U.S. District Court, Northern District of California, Oakland Division, according to legal documents obtained by BoxingScene.com

Ward is accusing Goossen of violating the Ali Act by not making timely disclosures between 2004 and 2012 of all compensation or consideration Goossen was receiving from or in relation to the fight. He also accused Goossen of not making timely disclosures of any purse reductions, charges and expenses that would be coming out of Ward’s pay.

The lawsuit claims as examples that Goossen had not complied with the Ali Act disclosures prior to being paid for Ward’s fights with Sakio Bika in 2010, Arthur Abraham and Carl Froch in 2011, and Chad Dawson in 2012.

“Furthermore, in the one and only instance where Goossen did provide timely Ali Act disclosures to Mr. Ward, in connection with a fight he was promoting in 2013, such disclosures were woefully inadequate, failing to comply with even the most basic provisions of the Ali Act,” the lawsuit claims.

Ward is asking the court for damages, including any fees Goossen earned from Ward through allegedly wrongful means, for an accounting of any fees Goossen received while promoting Ward’s fights, and for the repayment of Ward’s attorney fees and costs.

“Mr. Ward has suffered economic injury as a result of Goossen’s repeated violations of the Ali Act because if Goossen had timely and fully disclosed all compensation and expenses in connection with each bout to Mr. Ward, Mr. Ward would have had full and complete information sufficient to determine whether he was receiving the purses to which he was entitled for each bout, or to negotiate a higher purse for each fight, if necessary,” the lawsuit states.

Ward has not been successful in his previous attempts to part with Goossen. He also has not fought since November 2013, when he topped Edwin Rodriguez to move to 27-0 with 14 knockouts.

Andre Ward Seeks Criminal Investigation on Goossen

by Rick Reeno

As previously reported last week on BoxingScene.com, super middleweight champion Andre Ward filed a lawsuit in federal court against his promoter Dan Goossen and his Goossen Tutor Promotions. The lawsuit - filed in U.S. District Court [Northern District of California, Oakland Division] - alleges violations of the Muhammad Ali Boxing Reform Act.

What bothers Ward, with respect to the Muhammad Ali Boxing Reform Act, is the lack of enforcement with the criminal prosecution of any individuals found violating the 'financial disclosure provision.'

The undefeated boxer is urging the United States Attorneys Office to launch a criminal investigation on Goossen as it relates to the claimed violations 'financial disclosure provision.

"I strongly encourage the United States Attorneys Office to investigate what my team and I feel are flagrant violations of the financial disclosure provisions of the Muhammad Ali Boxing Reform Act by Dan Goossen and Goossen Tutor Promotions. The financial disclosure provision is the only part of the statute that carries potential criminal liability, but many promoters do not take it seriously because it is not enforced. As a professional prize fighter, I feel I have an obligation on behalf of not only myself, but my fellow professional boxers who risk their lives in the ring, to take a stand and make sure that the Ali Act is taken as seriously as the members of Congress that enacted it designed it to be taken," said Ward in a statement provided to BoxingScene.com.
