Idk, don't really like paying 4 guys on our OLine more than $50mil each

fukk they expect to do with Dak, Zeke, Amari, and our defensive players...

Should have kept churning out cheap LGs and RTs through the draft to round out the line.

Poor cap management. This will come back to haunt us. As soon as this upcoming off-season.

Byron gone

They said the contract extension for Collins help them because it drops his cap number for this year by about 6 million. By doing this it enables them to better position themselves for Zekes next contract and they’ll be able to frontload Zeke salary because of the Collins extension

I think cowboys know they can’t keep everybody. I think they’re conceding they won’t be able to keep dudes in the secondary but then again when was the last time that Dallas paid big money to anybody in the secondary, maybe Brandon car or scandrick? We out here praying for an upgrade to the safety position and Stephen Jones outchea telling us “we like what we have”:sadcam:. We let Claiborne walk. And we let mike Jenkins walk.clearly we don’t value the secondary.i doubt anybody in our secondary gets a non team friendly second contract and I mean really conservative team friendly contract.

I wouldn’t be surprised if both Jordan Lewis and Jones are playing somewhere else on their next contract. I bet the corner we choose to keep is Brown. He’s the cheapest(and weakest!!) to keep.

Light word is a Zeke deal is set in principle, according to 105.3 the fan. But they could be just talking since Zeke is flying back today.

A Press conference is scheduled for tomorrow:ohhh:

The CB situation makes sense. Richard prefers the taller/longer corners and those two dudes (Olumba and Jackson - I think) that got cut were able to make it to the practice squad. That's depth that will get stashed away for now but both guys might see the field sooner rather than later.

Jones is 'solid' but they probably want to see another year out of him before making a decision. Cowboys' problem is splash plays. The defense is solid but they don't flip field position with sacks and turnovers. As much as Dak has to keep growing, the defense has to take another step.

My guess is that Amari will probably get locked up if he has a good season. Byron and Dak are the two biggest question marks. At this point, the Boys seem willing to hold on and wait for Dak. Ed Werder just mentioned on ESPN that Dak is making good endorsement money and is in no hurry with the contract. Cowboys probably have a number and will not budge....Dak is basically saying "I'll bet on myself." If Dak keeps improving and leads them to the top, he's getting paid. If he takes a step back or doesn't really grow...they might actually keep Byron and then let Dak test FA.

In the long run, this might actually be the best outcome. They need another year before committing to Dak. Worse case scenario is Dak basically playing the same but Dallas wins 11 games and goes deep in the playoffs. At that point he's still "ok" but that's not enough for $35 million/year. They need him to either take a big step forward or backward to make the decision more clear.

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
I think Cooper would be the odd man out.

They drafted Gallup to replace Dez, but that office and Gallup being a rookie created a sense of urgency and desperation. If Gallop has a monster year, they would have no choice but to part ways with Coop.

It's funny because when they traded for Roy Williams, they immediately extended him. This time they played it smart.

No way they let Cooper go. He's 25 and has 5 prime years left at least. Plus we traded a 1st rounder for him. If Gallup is who we believe him to be, we will have the perfect WR tandem for years.

Collins played well last year imo.
He did get better after we fired Alexander. That was made him and the offense regressed. Collins looked better the second half of 17 and we were hoping for him to take another step forward in 18 but his development was stunted a bit by having Alexander teaching him how to block. Most of his problems come from lack of awareness and that throws off his technique.

Yea you can see how much better he got once Colombo took over the Oline.

Well lets hope Ricard can work his magic because they won't be able to keep Byron Jones.

As for Dak, they can franchise him next year. If he wins a title or get to the NFC Championship game, then they will have to pay him no matter what. And the price will go up.

Or maybe Coop takes a discount :manny:

I think because the offense literally shifted around Zeke, once Romo retired that they have to take care of him. If Dak takes the next step up and the new offense thrives, I do think they can afford to let Cooper walk.

And in all honesty, Dallas kinda elevated his status. Had he stayed in Oakland, I doubt he would command top 5 money.
