Offense will be OK.

Defense has to step it up but I wouldn't show too much against the Giants, Skins and Phins. Better to hold some shyt back for win you play A-Aron, the Iggles, Brady etc.

Not an excuse...but save the good shyt for when you need it.

D-Law is pressing. He gets upfield but ends up way behind the QB. Only works on 7 step drops. Most QBs are getting it out quicker so you change up the angle when getting to the backfield. Wish they'd play Donovan Woods here and there.
This is the NFL regular season breh, I promise you they're not holding anything back. This is who they are.

Are you talking about the offense? I think the offense is already doing this. I've noticed in this week's game against the 'phins & last week's game against 'skins, they weren't shifting as much as they were in week 1 against the Giants.

Team as a whole. They have to play better but I suspect they aren't going to empty the tank against teams when they have a clear talent advantage.

Good to show different things every week. Miami did the onside kick, changed up QBs, signed Taco...they caught Dallas napping and wanted to steal one. Phins just weren't good enough. And that's WITH Dallas having 100+ yards in penalties.

We’re an elite DT away from really fukking shyt up on D....our D is still solid tho.....they just haven’t taken that step we expected them to take.....

Need some turnovers from the secondary, period. It's the same old shyt with this secondary, not one playmaker in the bunch. When is that boy Donovan Wilson going to get some run. He's the only one besides.. honestly, as sad as it is to say, the only one besides JEFF HEATH and Jourdan Lewis with a nose for the ball. Get that nikka in there.

This turnover problem has been a problem for multiple seasons, under multiple coordinators with multiple players. What do you think the problem is?

I think since the franchise as whole tends to lean more offensive-minded, they'd rather lean on that side of the ball to win games therefore causing the defense to play with a more conservative "just don't make a mistake" mindset.

Jerry, Stephen, and Garrett dont know how to build a great defense :yeshrug:

Defense was great under Wade with lesser talent than we have now :yeshrug:

And even with Wade’s defense, Parcells built that defense :yeshrug:

Garrett hired Rob Ryan but his scheme was “too complex” so he hired Kiffin and Flabinelli because they run “the defensive version of his scheme” (simple defense to learn).

They need to cleanse this franchise of ALL of the defensive coaches and get some guys in here that:

1. Prioritize the middle of the defense. Get better DTs and Safeties on this team asap.

2. Coach DBs to turn their head around and play the ball (im looking at you Cheetoh)

3. Know how to confuse opposing QBs with their scheme

I don't think the org knows how to scout secondary players.. you can see it in the draft picks. They don't really pay any attention to the safety position and at that position, and really the secondary as a whole, they go after more "athletic freak" type of guys rather than refined corners and safeties with ball skills. Remember that Ansah (AOA) dude? We was just banking on him to become a good safety just because he was an athlete. Same with Xavier Woods (although he actually has become solid). Byron Jones was an athletic guy without a set position in the secondary who ended up developing, but still doesn't play the ball.

They basically lucked into Jourdan Lewis who is the only guy with ball skills we have at CB but they don't play him cuz the DB coach thinks he's not big enough :francis:

Lack of turnovers is mainly cause of lack of pressure, imo

There are other teams that generate INTs and they don't have the Bears defense or Ed Reed or Troy Polamalu or Eric Weddle back there. Plenty of ass defenses/secondaries generate turnovers.

That's cause other teams force opposing QBs to play under pressure. They put QBs on their ass. Get the back of their jerseys dirty. Have them playing sped up and uncomfortable. Force them to make rushed, occasionally poor decisions.

Our defense does nothing of the sort. Obviously we play bend but don't break defense, and it seems like our DBs are coached to tackle after completions more than they're coached to play the ball. The goal is minimizing gains, not taking the ball away. And it seems to have been that mentality for fukking ever. Have to go back to Mike Jenkins and Terrance Newman days for me to remember a time when we had guys who even tried to read QBs eyes, jump routes, turn their heads, and play the ball.

Fanbase been bemoaning Garrett/Linehan conservative approach on offense for years, but defense has been the exact same way for even longer.

But even if you don't coach your DBs to play the ball, they're bound to get SOME balls straight gifted to them by poor QB decisions. We see it every week across the league. Except our team. No matter what D Coordinator or personnel we've had, we never blitz. We never flummox the QB. When they line up against us, what they see is what they get. You can't force bad decisions playing like that.

Even the flabbiest of opposing QBs and opposing OLines get all day to throw. QBs get to play our defense with peace and comfort. They never have to rush shyt or play out of their element. Plus our home field only became a real home field the last couple years. And only during primetime games or Decemeber and onward.

Just cause you have Ware or Lawrence doesn't mean you're going to make the QB uncomfortable. They might get home once or twice a game. Usually less than that. The other 30-40+ QB dropbacks, opposing QB is straight chilling and either has all day to throw or safely throws the ball away.

The defensive philosophy since Garrett's been here is the bend don't break defense with little blitzing.
Let them dink and dunk down the field and tighten up in the redzone and let them get FGs.
And they love players who they can "flex" and play multiple positions like Tyrone Crawford or Byron Jones.
You basically get a bunch of jack of all trades, masters of none.

And I swear, even as far back as the Campo years, these DBs seem to be taught to never turn their head and look for the ball. The only time we have guys who are "ballhawks" are ones we signed from free agency or rookies but they eventually start playing like our DBs. Then when they leave, the go right back to getting INTs.

Edit: Damn Codeine beat me to it.
