50 Cent Confirms Pacquiao Venture, Talks Mayweather
By Rick Reeno
50 Cent has confirmed BoxingScene.com's news breaker from Thursday night , regarding the rapper's planned promotional venture with eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao.
Back in July, 50 Cent announced the formation of TMT Promotions, and quickly signed Yuriorkis Gamboa, Billy Dibb, Celestino Caballero and Andre Dirrell. He also obtained a promoter's license in New York, and submitted paperwork to get a license in Las Vegas.
Floyd Mayweather Jr., who was viewed as the company partner of 50 Cent, never established a direct relationship with TMT. Over the last two weeks, there have been numerous reports that Mayweather and 50 Cent have drifted apart.
Earlier this morning, 50 Cent appeared on The Breakfast Club, a radio program on Power 105 in New York City. The radio station questioned 50 about the details of BoxingScene's story. The station was kind enough to provide some of 50's comments to BoxingScene. According to 50, he still considers Mayweather to be a friend, and he doesn't expect him to be angry over the anticipated union with Pacquiao.
“Floyd is a friend of mine. I look at Floyd like he’s my younger brother. ... He earns so much that he just spend. Run around and spend what he want. So, there’s no urgency, to anything. And when the communication breaks and it starts to not be –Look, my concept of TMT is ‘the fight you want to see’. It’s Floyd [Mayweather and] Manny Pacquiao, the fight,” 50 said.
“Well, I don’t think [that Floyd would get upset over this venture]. I think he’ll go ‘I wish him luck.’ … It’s not like I’m not in communication with him. I texted him and told him everything.
