Man fukk "Pacific Rim". Where the hell is "At The Mountains Of Madness"?!:why:

Fred.

I know. I remember them saying that they had Tom Cruise ready to go with Ron Pearlman as well. But they were worried about Tom's box office draw at the time.

Now it's because they want the film to be a "PG-13 movie" essentially to maximize profits. Guillermo said that his vision had to be a hard "R" for the creatures and specific scenes. The studios don't want to invest in a Rated R movie with a huge budget that they feel they wouldn't make back (also because Guillermo's movies aren't box office smashes as well). I think Guillermo said he found a way to make it PG-13 and is going back to try again.

You got Tom Cruise, Ron Pearlman, James Cameron Producing and Guillermo directing and they won't take a chance. I understand from a business standpoint but still...

"Pacific Rim" was supposed to be his attempt at mainstream success....then he was supposed to piggyback off that and get the funding for "At The Mountains Of Madness". That was his plan.

Now dude is talking about "Pacific Rim" 2 and 3? :stopitslime::camby:

And "Madness" could be PG-13, there's only a couple scenes with gore. One actually, that I remember. But even with a PG-13 I'm sure they'd make him change the ending, which is pretty fukking dark.

If he can't make it how he wants/faithful to the original story I hope it never gets made. It has the potential to be the GOAT horror movie if done correctly.

I just watched Pan's Labyrinth again and :whew: I forgot how excellent that movie was. Definitely his best film he made (to me anyways).

I don't think I could imagine anyone else making the film if he doesn't get to.

Hmm, yeah, I hear that from a lot of people, but I think it's one of those things that people hear so much they just start to repeat it and/or believe it even though it isn't true. The premise is certainly horrific and has potential, which is why I think it would make a great horror flick. But the execution is boring as hell. Although I can certainly appreciate the fantastic ideas and images that Lovecraft created and how they have influenced generations of books and films- I was not entertained.

Worst of all, I was not scared or even thrilled. The writing style took all of the pleasure out of this "horror" story. I don't know if it was the time period in which it was written or special style of language that was used, but it muted any visceral fear that should have come out of the situation and images being described. By the end, I just felt like :shaq2::camby:

they need to figure out how one person can control the robots. needing 2 people to control the robots was the only big problem i had with the first one. Of course, the other problem i had was the robots not being able to transform:troll:
