But smart players and agents do.

He may move on.

Then it is what it is. He may move on he may not but there is nothing smart on the Pacers end for paying him based on what some other team paid some other nikka. It's up to them to pay what they believe he's worth and it's up to him to get what he believes he's worth. Best believe Avery Bradley wouldn't be setting no damn market if he was getting $2.5 mil a year.

I'm speaking from a player's perspective. Other players set the market. Salary.com exist for a reason and is used by folks when wanting to get fair compensation for someone of their skill set.

No problem with managements position, but as a player, I'd want more.

And I am not knocking that either. I get both sides. There is no such thing as fair compensation. You get what you can negotiate. If Lance wants more then he's more that entitled to seek that. If the Pacers dont' wanna pay they are more than entitled not to. :yeshrug:

business is a two way street though

if he wants more than the team deems he's worth, then obviously the team is ok with him leaving. well, thats assuming both parties doing business are shrewd businessmen.

people are always either on players side or teams side, for some reason. the player isnt 'greedy' by wanting market based salary, and team isnt 'low balling' if their evaluation of player value doesnt match that salary that the player wants.

I'm just calling it for what it is. I just brought up the players side which wasn't talked about in that point in the conversation.

Duval County
i mean, wasnt he a big part of some of the problems they were having past all star break

From a performance perspective, he was ballin his ass off the entire season and through the playoffs. The fukkery and his comments were more of a side drama but instead of embracing it, his teammates turned on him cuz they some fukkboys. The #1 issue the Pacers had post all star break was the fact that Hibbert is a bum, Paul George was overshooting and their roster isn't built to defend a team that stretches the floor well (Atlanta)

fair enough. Im just pointing out its a barter thing where each side is trying to make a profitable contract and each side can end up wrong... one way or the other, even in case of a compromise.
