I think Puff has probably had a pretty serious drug/alcohol problem for most of his adult life. It's just money, fame, can keep you somewhat protected from a lot of the consequences that "normal" people face. Like work issues, funding a habit. They have circles of enablers and handlers to help them, and keep them protected. But, if you look at his behavior

1999: Steve Stoute beating

1999: Club NY shooting, there was cocaine residue in the Lincoln Navigator, Shyne was the lil homie, he'd be taking his cues from Puff, so we can assume that Puff did coke and was doing it that night

Black Rob recounted a story on some podcast of Puff showing up to his house months/weeks after BIG's death, rolling on E, saying
"I love you Rob, you my brother", which he described in a funny way, but again, there's a pattern

Him beating up a UCLA coach also seemed like someone on drugs, throwing a barbell at them LOL

The Cassie lawsuits points to a serious drug issue as far back as 2006, when she met him. His general public behavior is pretty indicative of someone with a bad drug habit. Dozens of public appearances where he seems drunk. Sunglasses on inside.

-A recent breakfast club interview, where he's slurring and talking all raspy, drinking at like 8:00 AM

-I rarely saw his social media, but a few clips that have been making the rounds lately, he is clearly on drugs/drunk

-That French Montana birthday video, he's raspy like he's been up all night

-There's some video of him with a little white girl that he's clearly high in

-The infamous Drink Champs appearance where he's again clearly drunk and on drugs, and slurring his words

I think it would be easier to point a recent public appearance where he wasn't drunk or high.
With this timeline, I wouldn't be surprised if his "alleged" involvement with Pac's death and then Big's death 6 months later didn't push him over the edge and then add in, he was arguably the biggest rap artist over the next year. He was relatively subdued and calculating before this, telling Big and Bad Boy to chill on Pac and Suge.

By no means is this an attempt to humanize him, because he's been accused of some monstrous things, but I can understand how someone can become a completely unhinged addict after that.

I know I personally would probably be on a bad multi-year alcohol binge to say the least if I was in those circumstances.

The bolded is what I've been thinking too. In my opinion when Kim passed Puff took a steep fall. He started looking much older, and publicly behaving looser (drink champs). I sat up a couple nights ago and watched every episode of making the band season 2. Yea I know it aired 20 years ago but seeing him then and now the fall off with his public awareness is apparent.

Not discounting anything you are saying but Kim Porter died in November 2018, and that Drink Champs podcast was sometime in mid 2017

given their lifestyle and the circumstances, this makes sense that both his sons were and are participants in at least some degree of his behavior. They seem to live together off and on, travel together, the Lil Rod suit describes them in the studio when the shooting incident took place. They had a few women in common, dated the kid and Puff.

If Brian Pumper is involved in any of this I'm leaving the planet. I'm not built to learn about what would have transpired at a Diddy party with Pumper in the cut...
