yep. no doubt this war is lining some pockets... imagine what this money could've done at home. while the bulk of it is for war machinery/weapons, around $36B has gone to financing ukraines government and charity/relief efforts for civilian ukrainians. i know a few teachers (my mom was one) and they spend money out of their own pocket on school supplies. its crazy that we can prop up another country like this

Depending on the day, I feel bad for Ukrainians who will be used as pawns by the United States. After all, wasn't it Henry Kissinger who said, "To be an enemy of America can be dangerous, but to be a friend is fatal."

However, it is a VERY racist country whose citizens found time, during a Russian invasion, to throw pregnant African mothers off trains and leave them stranded in the cold along with thousands of other African and Indians in Ukraine. They also have NATO-trained Neo-Nazi regiments in their army, like the Azov Battalion.

So, I don't feel that bad for them.

My overwhelming concern is the possibility of a nuclear third world war because of Ukraine. I'm not going be vaporized by atomic weaponry because of a racist Ukrainian soldier sleeping in a trench in the fukking Donbas.

On another note, let me provide an analogous scenario for you:

If the Canadian government, friendly to the United States, was toppled by regime change engineered by the Kremlin to eventually have Canada join a Russian security alliance that would station Russian troops near the US border, how do you think the United States would react?

Finally, surely you're aware that the United States leads a global empire that has most of Europe, via NATO, as its vassal states?

The bolded is false. What evidence do you have to suggest that Putin desires to fully take on NATO and precipitate a Third World War which will kill everyone on this planet? Putin's a pragmatist. Ukraine is not in NATO or the EU. It could join them, but invading Ukraine has forestalled any such action.

Invading Crimea was a reaction to the Western sponsored Maidan Revolution which would have placed a NATO state on Russia's borders (prior to Finland joining NATO in 2023).

Of course, the seizure of Crimea was a violation of international law, but unfortunately Russia has utilized Western precedent from Kosovo's Western-backed unilateral secession from Serbia as a backdoor way to annex Crimea.

Westerners have a terrible problem with describing any autocrat they don't like as Hitlerian (which is funny, given the West's embrace of Goebbelian propaganda and genocide in West Asia).

Putin is not going to directly attack NATO countries. However, he will seize any opportunity possible to undermine neighbouring countries (esp. former constituent states of the USSR) which seek to join the NATO alliance or the EU to pose a threat to Russia.

Russia repeatedly said, and was promised by Bush the Elder and Clinton, that NATO expansion to Eastern Europe after the Cold War would be viewed as an aggressive action. Bush the Younger, Obama, and Biden have pushed NATO expansion towards Russia. Every action spurs a response.
