Think about the job of being an assistant or scout. All you do is watch film and travel all day. This isn’t rocket science. It’s not even about real results, given that most teams exhaust thousands of hours studying players or concepts only to bomb the draft and finish at or below 500. Then ask yourself: how come black assistants and scouts can’t even move up to basic positions.

I disagree with her on one thing. I don’t think the culprit is ownership. Sure a rich ole white guy is gonna gravitate towards hiring a white man. But the damage is done before the owner is even a factor in the equation. The NFL is a business of maintaining white mediocrity. This is the job you can recommend to your deadbeat buddy who lost his sales job and drinks too much. If he can “study” film for 16 hours a day and drive people to/from the airport, he can get his foot in the door. And once that white guy moves up, he finds another deadbeat white guy to get into the door. It’s a self perpetuating system built on a mirage of hard work. Guys who spend more time on their “job” than CIA officers and military officials, yet are the stupidest people imaginable.

Yup it's true
You see te coaches special team coaches, Cac failure coaches. also see cacs like Witten and Romo fall right into prime time announcing gigs. John Lynch and maylock straight from the booth to gm but Louis Riddikk who has front office experience nah.

Caldwell can't get a gig
Marvin Lewis nope

Mike McCarthy tired and got the Cowboys gig

Yea, they did a great job with the reshuffling of that show this season. They should aim to keep the momentum going with that same crew. Nice mix of personalities, and solid/skilled women with Mina and Laura Rutledge too.
Yup a good mix of serious analysis while still having fun and not taking it all too serious.

As far as OP it all is just a microcosm of corporate America. Like somebody already said as a black man we have to excel to get the same opportunities as our white counterparts and don't let one of us get hired and fukk up, cause then they'll use that one example to justify not hiring any of us. The whole system is poisoned and no matter how many rules are passed it's still damn near impossible to force someone to hire a black man if it's not in their hearts. And more focus also needs to be placed on filling the front office positions with black men too and getting us in the pipeline for all that.

Honestly , every head coaching vacancy isn’t an ideal.

Few ideal coaching gigs pop up. Mike Tomlin lucked up. Baltimore is also a good gig. Mike Singletary got his shot and blew it.

But it’s simple math. Not enough black coaches because it’s not enough black general managers and Vice Presidents.

Obviously a GM will go with who he knows.

there also needs to be black head coaches that create a coaching tree. I think Dungy is the only one... I think. But that’s it.

i think mike did a fine job, but he took the 49’ers as far as he could take them, but he got the 49’ers out the dark ages, got them a ton of talent

it’s plenty of black coaches, it’s just they ain’t asking us to move up the ranks, it’s too much nepotism and cronieism too

when you get a black head coach they put brothers on, and then they complain (lovie, Willie)

Couldn't win with Baker Mayfield and Patrick Mahomes as his QBs at Tech :smh:

well it was Texas tech, but i get it

He coached/oc'd Mahomes in college, Mayfield for one year, comes from the same family as Linc Riley(a hot coaching name). And Kyler Murray was right there to take. Plus he's a young offensive guy like McVay and that could've been their version

Not saying he deserves the job but it's easy to see why he got it.

What does this really mean? It's really a whole lot of nothing.
He came across some guys who are now in the league while they were in college. Did he win with them? No.

And he's young. :beli:
