How does Brandin Cooks fit?
Cooks is worth the first-round selection and swap of mid-round picks it cost to acquire him. At only 23 years old, he already has back-to-back 1,100-yard seasons under his belt with 20 career touchdowns.

He’s among the fastest players in the NFL and one of the most dangerous deep threats:

Bill Belichick was rumored to be interested in selecting Cooks in the 2014 NFL draft, but the New Orleans Saints traded up to grab the 20th overall pick and took the receiver nine picks before the Patriots were on the clock. Even after Cooks finished an underwhelming rookie year with only 550 receiving yards and three touchdowns, Belichick was convinced he would be dangerous.

"I'm glad we don't have to play him twice a year and he's not in our division," Belichick told the New Orleans Times-Picayune in August 2015. "He's a really good player."

Now Cooks goes to an offense that already has Julian Edelman, Rob Gronkowski, Danny Amendola, Chris Hogan, and Dion Lewis. Even without the contributions of Cooks, the Patriots were No. 3 in scoring offense and No. 4 in passing yards.

Patriots are ending the Tom Brady era in style

I CANNOT WAIT to see Brady and Cooks carve up opposing secondaries and connect for 30, 40, 50-yard TD passes :ohlawd:

He's being placed on our priority back-burner. We've been more concerned with Hightower and our offense versus securing a long-term deal for the Super Bowl hero.
I'm just a casual, but watching the 4th quarter of that Superbowl and Butler saving the day turned me into a fan of watching the NFL. I remember, the Hawks were right on the line of the endzone and I looked to my dad and said "the only way the Patriots can stop them is if they intercept a pass right here, but why would the Seahawks even pass at this point?". Seahawks passed, Butler intercepts. Butler saves the game.

I'm just a casual, but I've been a supporter of the Patriots since that game and Butler orchestrated one of the most amazing things I have ever seen in my life. I hope the Patriots organization takes care of Butler

If we keep malcolm our defense should be elite this year. And not just in points allowed. At least up to the 2014 level secondary which was pretty damned good.

"Most of the year I played inside, played on the right side. I played on the left side my whole career. And that’s not a big deal. But if I’m going to keep playing at my age, I still have a fire burning to be the type of player I want to be. And I think at my age, playing three-technique, doing those things, I’m happy to do all the dirty work things, but eventually if I’m going to be me and get back to where I was, just for a year or two even, I had to go elsewhere."
