Went from 0 to 100% remote and i haven't been held more accountable but I have a team that's WAY more available remotely than I EVER had on-site

This is exactly why what’s happening with this immigration shyt is happening. People are going to throw a fit about going to the office (rather than knowing this time was coming so they could have easily learned a new skill in that time to get away from what they hate doing anyway), they will be fired, and one of the millions of immigrants that have come into the country will work them $18/hr jobs with no bytching involved…

When I went WFH at the start of COVID, they eventually asked us to come back in because "we spent a lot on remodeling the office" and "the CEO likes being able to walk around and see people."

I switched jobs and any RTO calls have been based around the lease we're paying and trying to create "magic" by working face to face.

I am never going back. The benefits are too good compared to those weak ass reasons.

Companies are lucky teh job market is horrible. Honestly if I lived close to work i wouldn't mind going in.

I WFH and I love it, yesterday my boss emailed me at 6pm and I was home so said wth and did it. If I had to go into the office I'm not looking at my email after work hours.

Exactly, I’ve answered a quick email at 8pm because I’ve been home all day so it doesn’t bother me. If I was in the office that type a stuff would never happen. Working from home depending on what I’m doing or how long it would take me to complete the task I’ll stay on call hours after I’ve technically been off.

This is true for me as well. I definitely wind up doing net more work, it's just more spread out but I'm just as inclined to be working at 7-9 as I am to fukk off between 12-2. It depends on how much I have left to do

This has nothing to do with building a "company culture" or "spontaneous interactions". It's all about Billionaire Commercial Office Owners complaining that their investments are worth less. God forbid Billionaires have to take a cut!
^^^^ This right here.

I really need to find something thats WFH as a main gig.

Whoever wanted this return to office shyt must be an egotistical loser that likes to talk a lot about themselves and don’t like to be home.

Place im at now, it feels like these dudes just come to work to get out the house and hang with their work “buddies”. These dudes do absolutely nothing there, looking like shyt to peers companies we collab with and not caring at all.

I don’t even mind if they don’t do shyt…It’s that easy and they're just that lazy… but take your ass home then.

Don’t chill in my space talking about every fukking thing going on in your life when people are actually working

Gives me about three hours of my life back each day and I didn’t even have a rough commute when I worked in NYC.

My company doesn’t have an office in Austin so I probably won’t be in one for the foreseeable future hopefully.

i miss it :mjcry: new office is only 10 mins away, but still. it's not even worth the wear and tear on the car

the smart approach for companies should have been this; "if you'd rather work from home by yourself, that's fine. promotions will obviously go to the type of people who show up in the office". there's no need to force the majority of workers, or people who are content with just being normal workers, to work in an office to sit in front of a fukkin computer all day

the thing workers had to be wary of is outsourcing, though. because if you wanna work from a computer, there's really no difference if the company hires 3 Napoleons for the cost of paying and insuring you

i used to feel that way but them dudes not stupid, you have to pay them cats.

You find one “trying to get in the business” probably will fukk something up, especially if they have the steep language barrier a lot of them do with outsourced gigs.

I seen a few companies try it, it didn’t work out so well.

The ones they do hire that will know what tf they’re doing, will eventually will realize they can probably do better. Then there’s cyber espionage, working dual fulltime jobs, etc.

I don’t MIND going in… but at least let it be hybrid. I took a couple days off for personal reasons and came back wishing I had took the week off.

I have “teammates”, but if Im not there they won’t do shyt unless told… and they have been there longer:gucci:. They will literally wait for me to get there and bring it up.

To the point where what takes them days to do literally takes me 30 minutes to an hour at best. And if it takes any longer, it’s some middleman bullshyt that I have to wait on.

I could do all their jobs, from home, and in less time. Some are decent but them dudes aren’t on my team. Minus a couple things I have yet to understand (not because it’s technically difficult, but because of this places lack of structure), Im almost certain I could do their shyt in less time. Not even trying to brag or nothing. My team is cool individually but as a collective I’ve never been so confused.

I do all the shyt they cry about doing, do it in less time, and do it with the LESSER of the experience in their organization… and Im like :scust: about it. But it’s the culture there too. Ive never seen so many cats in the hallway, IN THE fukkING WAY, having sidebar conversations
